Dan Smith

Limit Hold'em

Bryce Yockey in the hijack and Dan Smith in the big blind were involved in the action with the former raising and the latter three-betting to see the {7-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} flop. Smith bet and Yockey called which led them to the {q-Hearts} turn. Smith bet once more with few chips behind and then called all-in when Yockey raised.

Dan Smith: {6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}
Bryce Yockey: {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

The {j-Diamonds} on the river brought no miracle to Smith and he became the first casualty on Day 3.

Katz Doubles and Gains More Chips After

Level 13 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

No-Limit Hold'em

Cary Katz was flipping for his tournament life out of the small blind with the {a-Hearts}{q-Spades} and was called by John Monnette with the {2-Clubs}{2-Hearts} in the big blind. The board ran out {q-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{6-Hearts} and Katz doubled.

He then raised the button and Chad Eveslage called out of the big blind in the next hand. Eveslage check-raised to 40,000 on the {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{8-Clubs} flop and folded to a shove by Katz, who revealed the {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}. "I would have called if I had any equity," Eveslage replied in table chat.

Monnette's Stack Shrunk Then Eliminated

Level 13 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
John Monette
John Monette

Stud

Action was picked up on fifth street, with Josh Arieh raising a bet from John Monnette. Monnette called, then called another bet on sixth street as well. Arieh kept up the aggression on seventh, firing out another bet.

Their boards read:

John Monnette: {x-}{x-}/{a-Spades}{6-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}/{x-}
Josh Arieh: {x-}{x-}/{5-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{4-Clubs}{9-Hearts}/{x-}

Monnette showed {9-Spades}{8-Spades} in the hole and said "I guess these aren't good anymore" as he tossed them into the muck.

Shortly after, Monnette was eliminated in a hand of Omaha Hi-Lo by Cary Katz.

According to his former tablemates, "Angry" John took his bustout rather well, saying, "Good luck. Oh shit, you guys don't need it."
