Herm Drains His Time Banks, Makes The Right Call

David Peters shoved the river , with about 500,000 in the middle and Mark Herm went deep into the tank for his tournament life.

Herm, who had 600,000 behind, stood up and starting using his tank banks as he eyed Peters.

"When is my hand dead," Herm asked the dealer?

Herm put in his final two time banks before making the call.

Herm tabled for a pair of eights, and Peters sent his hand into the muck face-down.

The board ran out and Smith rivered a flush to survive.

A couple of hands later, Smith had the short-stacked Negreanu at risk for his last 105,000.

Alarm Blares as Koon Folds

Kevin Rabichow called from the small blind and Jason Koon checked his option.

The flop was and both players checked to see on the turn.

Rabichow bet 100,000 on the turn and Koon called. The river was .

Rabichow continued for 225,000 and Koon went into the tank as the fire alarm screeched in the background. There did not appear to be an issue in or around the Amazon room, and there had been no order to leave. The occasional alarm has not been uncommon at the 2021 WSOP.

Koon took exception to the distraction while throwing his hand in the muck. The floor staff decided to stop the clock and pause the tournament until the situation is assessed and the noise stops.
