Koon Holding Court

Level 2 : 200/300, 300 ante
Jason Koon
Jason Koon

Jason Koon has been getting into the vibe on Day 1A, happily dishing out advice to his tablemates in the Amazon Orange section.

"This is the Main Event, so try to have fun. It gets much more serious later, but this is Day 1 so just try to enjoy it."

Koon had the opportunity to show them how it's done when a player in middle position raised to 800. Another player in the cutoff called and Koon three-bet to 3,500 from the button. The original raiser folded and the player in the cutoff came along.

The flop was {k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} and Koon continued for 2,500. His opponent called and the turn was {2-Spades}.

Koon bet 8,000 on the turn and his opponent quickly folded. The newly minted WSOP champion dragged the pot with a smile and continued enjoying his Day 1 of the Main Event.

The {10-Clubs} hit the turn and Phan continued again, this time for 6,000 and Pedigo quickly called.

On the {9-Hearts} river, Phan checked over to Pedigo who jammed his remaining stack of roughly 6,700. Phan surrendered the pot and the dealer shipped the chips to Pedigo.

Level 2 : 200/300, 300 ante
Jerod Smith
Jerod Smith

On a heads-up turn of {10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}, Jerod Smith was all-in for just 10,000 and his opponent James Hughes was in the tank for nearly a minute before making the call.

Jerod Smith: {j-Diamonds}{10-Spades}
James Hughes: {q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}

Smith was somewhat befuddled to not get instantly called as the {q-Spades} river only improved Hughes.

"I guess Solana isn't up enough for you to snap that off with top pair and flush draw," Smith said on his way out as both players were sporting the Solana shirt.
