Schreiber and Gamble on the Rail

Level 12
Nathan Gamble
Nathan Gamble

"He showed him a Five-Dugi and he tossed the cards into the muck," Jean-Robert Bellande summed up the elimination of Matthew Schreiber against Anatolii Zyrin.

That brought the field down to the final six tables but there was another all-in showdown happening at the same time.

Seven Card Stud

Nathan Gamble: {k-Spades}{9-Spades} / {5-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{a-Spades} / {3-Spades}
Ben Yu: {k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} / {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{5-Hearts} / {7-Hearts}

Nathan Gamble had been down to just 11,000 in chips and got them in after third street to pick up a caller in Ben Yu. Gamble was trailing all the way and failed to get there, bowing out in 36th place.

Guagenti Eliminates Chow

Level 12

Pot Limit 2-7 Triple Draw

Michael Chow got the last of his chips in pre-draw in the big blind against Nick Guagenti who was under the gun.

On the first draw, Chow drew one while Guagenti drew two. The second draw saw each player draw one.

On the final draw, Chow drew one and Guagenti patted his hand.

Guagenti held {9-}{7-}{5-}{3-}{2-}, and Chow couldn't improve on that last draw to overtake Guagenti's hand, sending him to the rail.

Hellmuth Loses to Matusow; Busts to Ohel

Level 12
Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth

A-5 Triple Draw

Phil Hellmuth lost the vast majority of his stack to Mike Matusow when he could not beat the {8-}{4-}{3-}{2-}{a-} of Matusow.

"You needed a four for the wheel?" Matusow asked but Hellmuth gave no answer. What followed was the all-in of Hellmuth for 9,000 and Naoya Kihara raised, Randy Ohel called.

On the first draw, Kihara and Hellmuth discarded one while Ohel took two. Kihara bet and Ohel called.

The second draw was patted by Kihara, Ohel took two once more and Hellmuth discarded one. Kihara's bet was once more called by Ohel.

After the final draw, Kihara patted and so did Ohel, while Hellmuth discarded one card for the third time.

Kihara's check was met by a bet of Ohel and the Japanese reluctantly folded.

Ohel tabled the {6-}{5-}{4-}{2-}{a-} and Hellmuth tossed his cards into the muck, gasped a very brief "so rough" before chatting with Matusow for a few moments and heading out of the tournament area.

Ohel's Aggression Earns a Big Pot

Level 12
Randy Ohel
Randy Ohel

Pot-Limit Omaha 8 or Better

On a three-way flop of {3-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{3-Spades}, Randy Ohel bet 7,000 in first position and was raised to 20,000 by Mike Matusow in the hijack. David Benyamine then cold-called in the cutoff, and with action back on him, Ohel moved his remaining 83,500 into the middle.

After some deliberation, Matusow and Benyamine both opted to fold, sending the large pot to Ohel, essentially doubling him up without a showdown.

Ramos Knocks Out Kelsall and Lehr in Big O

Level 12
Andrew Kelsall
Andrew Kelsall

Big O

Three ways to the {10-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{3-Spades} flop, Andrew Kelsall bet the pot and Felipe Ramos then pushed in a tower of T-5,000 chips for a pot-sized raise. Keith Lehr called all-in with his short stack and Kelsall also jammed his chips in to get called by Ramos.

Keith Lehr: {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{2-Spades}
Andrew Kelsall: {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}{q-Hearts}{6-Spades}{2-Hearts}
Felipe Ramos: {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}

The magic {2-Clubs} turn gave Ramos the flush and nut low, which remained ahead on the {q-Clubs} river to secure the double knockout.

"This is probably my new favorite game," Ramos said with a big grin on his face while he raked in the large pot.

Yu Doubles Through Gamble

Level 12

Big O

Ben Yu was all in preflop for his tournament life against Nathan Gamble who had just rebuilt his stack to about 100,000.

Ben Yu: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{8-Hearts}{2-Clubs}
Nathan Gamble: {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}

The board came {9-Spades}{6-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{10-Spades}, with Yu's paired jack enough to scoop the pot and put Gamble back on a short stack.

Meanwhile, Anthony Zinno couldn't grow his short stack today and has been eliminated.

Three Quarters For Ramos; One Quarter for Kelsall

Level 12
Felipe Ramos
Felipe Ramos

Big O

In a three-way all-in, Felipe Ramos was the player at risk for 78,500 and he was up against Andrew "AJ" Kelsall and Anatolii Zyrin. All three had already vaulted out of their chairs as the cards were exposed.

Felipe Ramos: {a-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{6-Spades}{3-Spades}{2-Hearts}
Andrew Kelsall: {a-Spades}{9-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}
Anatolii Zyrin: {j-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Spades}

All the chips had gone in after the {9-Hearts}{8-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} turn and Ramos then spiked the {k-Hearts} on the river to secure three quarters of the pot with the flush and nut low, while Zyrin's nut straight earned no portion of the pot at all. Kelsall took the final quarter with his duplicate nut low.

Down to Seven Tables

Level 12

Only seven tables remain in play as Jake Schwartz and Noah Bronstein were eliminated. The latter had nursed a very short stack for numerous levels ever since he was left short halfway through Day 1, while Schwartz seems to have been eliminated by Ben Diebold.

In the meanwhile, Matthew Schreiber doubled through Anatolii Zyrin in a hand of Pot-Limit 2-7 Triple Draw. He had three-bet jammed for 39,000 out of the small blind and Zyrin called on the button. Schreiber patted on the final draw and and Zyrin pondered about his move before also patting.

Schreiber rolled over the {7-}{6-}{5-}{4-}{2-} and Zyrin mucked an eighty-six.
