Yarron Bendor Bubbles Event #15: Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship as 24 Players Remain

Another day of the 2022 World Series of Poker has concluded and after seven 90-minute levels of play, the field of 110 was whittled down to just 24 players in Event #15: Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship.

The event saw a total of 196 entries, which created a prize pool of $1,827,700. A whopping $440,757 is up top for the eventual winner as well as the WSOP gold bracelet.

The big story on Day 2 was that the bubble had burst with the top 30 players making the money. Yarron Bendor was the unfortunate player to leave empty-handed after his exit ensured that the remaining players would be guaranteed a payday of at least $16,165.

Johannes Becker ended the day with the chip lead while Freddy Deeb and Ray Henson round out the top three chip stacks.

The likes of Jose Paz-Gutierrez, Matt Vengrin and Poker Hall of Famer Todd Brunson are on the other end of the spectrum and will begin Day 3 in the danger zone.

Late registration was open until the start of play today, and 16 players opted to hop into the mix. Phil Ivey, Brian Rast, Koray Aldemir and Ismael Bojang were just some of the players who did just that.

However, Ivey, Rast and Aldemir would only make cameo appearances. Bojang, on the other hand, managed to grind his way into the money, eventually bowing out in 25th place.

After the bubble burst, Tim Seidensticker, Mike Matusow and Patrice Biton found themselves on the wrong end of lady luck and had to settle for a min-cash. Jeffrey Vaughn was the last player to bust on Day 2 after he was unable to get ahead of Connor Drinan’s aces.

Johannes Becker was seen raking in the last of Ismael Bojangs's chips and he recalled the hand.

Bojang opened to 30,000 from the hijack and Becker called from the blinds. The players got their stacks in the middle on the {j-}{7-}{5-} flop.

Ismael Bojang: {a-}{a-}{q-}{10-}
Johannes Becker: {a-}{7-}{6-}{6-}

Becker made trips on the {7-} turn and the {10-} river signalled the end of Bojang's day.

Mike Matusow Busted In The Money

Level 17 : 15,000/30,000, 0 ante
Mike Matusow
Mike Matusow

Short-stacked Mike Matusow did not wait long to get the last of his chips in the middle before the flop. He was facing Daniel Zack and Aditya Prasetyo.

Matusow finally finished heads-up with Zack on the turn, with the board reading {3-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{q-Spades}.

"I have Aces, Mike", said Zack before showing {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}.

"I have draws and the best hand of my day," answered Matusow, with {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}.

The river was the {4-Diamonds} and that sealed Matusow's fate.
