Negreanu Chips Up With Aces; Maksimov Jams Up Stack

Level 16 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Three ways to the {k-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{4-Hearts} flop, Artem Maksimov checked and Daniel Negreanu bet 30,000. [Removed:508] raised to 80,000 in order to force out Maksimov and Negreanu called after very brief consideration.

After the {4-Spades} turn, Negreanu check-called for another 100,000 and they checked the {k-Diamonds} on the river. "Aces," Negreanu declared and tabled the {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}{9-Clubs}{7-Hearts}.

That was good enough to win the pot as Crivello mucked while Maksimov exclaimed "every time" while glancing at table neighbour Negreanu.

One hand later, Duarte Baptista opened to 25,000 and Daniel Chuprun called. Maksimov three-bet to 110,000 in the small blind and received two calls. The {10-Clubs}{6-Spades}{2-Spades} flop brought the open-shove by Maksimov for 241,000 and he won the pot uncontested.

Aces for Wantman and Ly

Level 16 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

After an under-the-gun raise to 30,000, Matthew Wantman raised to 105,000 in middle position, and Tommy Ly potted to 360,000 in the cutoff. Action folded back to Wantman who put in all his chips and was called.

Matthew Wantman: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}
Tommy Ly: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}

The board ran out {4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{j-Clubs} for a chop, while Ly gave a celebratory clap of his hands.

"Did you think you won?" Wantman asked. "Why'd you think you won?"

"I got excited in the moment," Ly replied, as they each took their stacks back and picked up a few chips in the chop.

Williams Surpasses a Million

Level 16 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Allan Le three-bet the pot to 90,000 out of the big blind and then faced the repot to 365,000 by David Williams in the cutoff. Back on Le, he used a long portion of his shot clock before sending the cards into the muck. By scooping the pot, Williams leaped to a seven-figure stack.

One table over, Ian Bradley survived an all-in showdown against Andriy Lyubovetskiy when his {a-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} turned trips fives with the cards of his opponent already in the muck.

Lehr Knocks Out Koliakoudakis

Level 16 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

With already around 200,000 in the pot on a {j-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{4-Clubs} flop, Keith Lehr bet enough in early position to cover Roussos Koliakoudakis' stack on the button. Koliakoudakis called.

Roussos Koliakoudakis: {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{10-Hearts}
Keith Lehr: {j-Hearts}{10-Spades}{9-Spades}{5-Hearts}

The {a-Diamonds} turn improved Koliakoudakis to a set, but the {8-Spades} spiked the river to give Lehr the nuts and send Koliakoudakis to the rail.

"Which one did you like more? Turn or river?" Ben Lamb asked at the conclusion of the hand, after he had wandered over to see the hand play out.

"The ri-ver," Lehr slowly mouthed as he collected the pot.

Chidwick and Galfond Meet Again

Level 16 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Phil Galfond and Stephen Chidwick had battled several times on previous occasions and both were involved once more. With around 140,000 in the pot to the {8-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{5-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{a-Clubs} river, Galfond opted to check with fewer than 20 big blinds behind.

Chidwick made it 125,000 to go and Galfond mulled it over for a short while before opting to fold.

Mermelstein Calls Correctly Against Katz

Level 16 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

On the river of a {9-Clubs}{6-Spades}{3-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{7-Spades} board, Aaron Katz bet 150,000 and that sent Aaron Mermelstein into the tank. While enjoying a massage, Mermelstein said "one second please" as he studied the board one more time with the shot clock ticking. Ultimately, Mermelstein made the call and Katz announced "small pair, seven" without turning over his cards.

The {7-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{4-Spades} for a straight by Mermelstein were revealed and Katz tossed his cards into the muck.

Hubbard Forces Out Negreanu

Level 16 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

On a flop of {q-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{3-Hearts}, Daniel Negreanu checked his option out of the big blind and then called a bet worth 130,000 by Stephen Hubbard on the button. The duo headed to the {4-Hearts} on the turn on which Negreanu checked once more.

Hubbard announced a pot-sized bet of 510,000 and that covered Negreanu by a very small margin while Hubbard had around 140,000 behind. Only a few seconds of consideration passed and Negreanu then tossed his cards into the muck.

Chris Brewer
Chris Brewer

With roughly 100,000 in the pot on a {q-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{7-Hearts}{4-Spades} board, Chris Brewer had 65,000 over the betting line in middle position and was facing a decision for the rest of his chips after Duarte Baptista raised in the hijack. Brewer thought about it and called.

Chris Brewer: {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{q-Spades}{6-Spades}
Duarte Baptista: {a-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{7-Spades}

The {3-Diamonds} completed the board to send Brewer to the rail, while Baptista moved over a million in chips.

Ball Is Ballin Again

Level 16 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

The cards of Kristopher Tong were already in the muck and he had to ship over a full double to Scott Ball worth 569,000.

On a board of {8-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{2-Spades}{k-Spades}{9-Diamonds}, the {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} of Ball had made a set of fives and that was good enough to lock up the double.
