Day 1 of Event #32: $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. at the 2022 WSOP at Bally’s and Paris Las Vegas attracted 773 players on Day 1. That figure is almost 200 more players than when Anthony Zinno won the same event in October of 2021. At the end of this first day, only 264 players were able to bag chips and move on to Day 2. Another 148 eliminations are required on Day 2 before players reach the money.

A bunch of notable names entered this event, including Japan's Tamon Nakamura, who finished Day 1 in the envious position of chip leader. Nakamura built a 311,000 stack after 15 levels of play. The Japanese player has already cashed three times this summer, and he's looking set for another in-the-money finish, or perhaps something much bigger.

Some of those stars are hunting for their first WSOP bracelet or hoping to add another to their collection.

Phil Ivey in the hunt for his 11th WSOP bracelet

While 264 players progressed to Day 2, many others did not. The tournament was not kind to everyone and there was a long list of busted players at the close of play. Alex Livingston, Jeanne David, Scotty Nguyen, Bob Mather, Maria Ho, Esther Taylor-Brady, Sasha Liu, Paul François Tedeschi, Antoine Chuzeville, and Todd Brunson were among those players eliminated today.

The tournament restarts at 12:00 p.m. local time on June 16th, with the clock starting on Level 16. The plan is to complete another ten levels, which will whittle the field down significantly. Omaha Hi/Lo

After Daniel Negreanu bet from the cutoff, the small blind and the hijack called on {2-Clubs}{6-Spades}{7-Diamonds}.

The turn brought in the {j-Hearts} and Negreanu kept betting when checked to. The small blind called and the hijack folded.

On to the river {4-Clubs} fell and the action checked around and Negreanu's top two pair was good for the high and he chopped the low with ace-three for three-quarters of the pot.

Limit Omaha Hi/lo

A player limped for 2,500, before Ira Berman made it to 5,000. Another player called and then Mike Matusow reraised it to 7,500 from the big blind. The first player called and so did Berman before the last player announced all in for 10,500.

Matusow then made it to 12,500 and was called by his two opponents.

It was four players to the flop with one player all in.

The flop came {2-Spades}{q-Hearts}{4-Spades}, and the three players checked to see a {a-Diamonds} on the turn. Matusow led 5,000, forcing a player to fold before Berman called.

The river was a {k-Diamonds} and Matusow bet another 5,000 and was called by Berman.

Matusow showed {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} for trips aces, and split the pot with Berman, who tabled {6-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{2-Hearts} for the low.

The all-in player mucked his card and was eliminated on the hand.
