Klimczak Fades and Doubles

Level 20

An early position player had opened to 15,000 and Brett Richey called on the button. Faith Klimczak announced pot, a bet of 65,000, working off a short stack of about 105,000. Richey decided to call on the button and see a flop.

Klimczak slid her remaining stack of about 40,000 as the flop was coming out. That flop was {j-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{4-Clubs}. Richey decided to call.

Klimczak showed {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{8-Clubs} for an overpair. Richey showed his {j-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} for top pair and lots of outs.

The turn {a-Hearts} was a bad one for Richey who lost many of his two pair outs with the flush draw now on board. The {q-} gave Klimczak the unneeded straight for the double and kept her tournament alive.

"Nice hand. Good raise, too," said a tablemate.

"I don't know how else to play that there," said Klimczak as she scooped the pot.
