Action picked up on seventh with three players looking at their final card. David "ODB" Baker bet the street. Christina Hill made the fold but John Monnette tossed in the call.

Hellmuth Controversy: Poker Brat's Chips Swiped on Break

Level 6
Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth

Controversy struck the 2022 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Event #38: $10,000 No-Limit 2-7 Single Draw Championship when Phil Hellmuth went on break only to discover his chips had been swiped by defending champion Farzad Bonyadi, who wasn't at-fault in the incident.

On break, as the tournament dwindled down to 21 players, the staff broke the fourth table, leaving just three remaining tables. When the "Poker Brat" returned, he noticed his chips were gone and that they had somehow ended up in Bonyadi's possession.

Immediately after the situation arose, the WSOP staff approached the table to investigate. There was no doubt that Hellmuth had a stack in play before leaving the table, but it wasn't clear the exact size of his stack. The surveillance camera was reviewed to determine the size of Hellmuth's stack, which the 16-time bracelet winner estimated was more than 130,000.

While the investigation occurred, PokerNews spoke with Hellmuth to hear his side of the story.

Pescatori Wins His All In and a Side Bet to Go With It

Level 6
Max Pescatori
Max Pescatori

Max Pescatori: {5-Spades}{5-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{a-Hearts}/{a-Spades}{5-Clubs}{4-Hearts}

Four players arrived at seventh street as Max Pescatori went all in for 1,600, just over half a big bet for the level.

The player immediately on his left announced "bet," and tossed in a single over-sized chip. Players began to discuss if that chip meant a call of the 1,600 or a full bet of 3,000, and just what the player's options would be hypothetically in that situation.

"He should be able to make it 1,600, 3,000, or 4,600," chimed in Yuval Bronshtein.

"He can never make it 3,000 there, you want to bet?" offered Pescatori.

Pescatori and Bronshtein settled on a wager as they called the floor over to clarify.

The floor made clear that, "because the all in is over half the big bet, you can not make it 3,000. A raise would be 4,600." The floor enforced a call in this particular instance.

"If you were running bad this World Series I wouldn't take it," said Pescatori. "But....," he drifted with a smile. "And I have a full house," which was good enough for the high portion of the pot.

Ohel Battling Back

Randy Ohel: {x-}{x-}/{a-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{2-Clubs}
David Funkhouser: {x-}{x-}/{3-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} - folded sixth street

Randy Ohel has been battling through a short stack most of the day, but recently got some chips back from tablemate David Funkhouser.

After Funkhouser defended his bring-in to Ohel's completion, the players checked fourth street.

On fifth, with a pair of threes now on board versus Ohel's three low clubs, Funkhouser check-called a bet from Ohel.

However on sixth street, as Ohel picked up a fourth baby club, Funkhouser opted to check-fold his hand, awarding the chips to Ohel.

Glenn Cozen: {x-}{x-}/{5-Spades}{10-Spades}{4-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}/{x-}

Action picked up on fourth street with Steven Albini betting and Glenn Cozen making the call.

Both players hit a four on fifth street and action repeated, Albini bet and Cozen called.

Cozen checked when he hit a pair of fives on sixth street, Albini checked behind.

On seventh, Cozen checked again, but Albini made a bet on the final street. Cozen thought for a bit and folded to ship the pot to Albini.
