Kevin Gerhart raised under the gun and found a call from Aaron Kupin in the big blind.

Kupin check-called the {k-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} flop, and both played tapped the table after the {6-Clubs} turn. Gerhart bet one more time on the {7-Hearts} river and was called again by Kupin.

Gerhart showed {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts} as Kupin mucked, and the defending champion had almost doubled his stack early on.

Weinman Slows Down Mizrachi

After adding to his starting stack early in the level, Michael Mizrachi three-bet Daniel Weinman from the cutoff. Weinman called to see the {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{4-Spades} flop, and checked-called a bet from Mizrachi.

The action repeated on the {q-Hearts} turn, and both players checked on the {j-Hearts} river. Weinman flipped over {a-Spades}{j-Diamonds} and Mizrachi said "nice hand" and slid his cards to the dealer.

Deeb Chips Up Through Silver

On a flop of {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}, Nate Silver check-raised to get called by Shaun Deeb and then bet the {3-Hearts} turn for Deeb to call. Both slowed down on the {2-Diamonds} river and checked. Silver tabled the {a-Hearts}{k-Spades} but Deeb had that beat with the {a-Spades}{10-Spades} for two pair.

David "Bakes" Baker was already all in and awaiting his fate while Paul Sokoloff with a low board and a pair bet into Julien Martini, who called. Sokoloff also bet seventh to get called and flipped over the wheel. Baker flashed his cards including a jack for a second and mucked, while Martini also mucked his cards and was left very short.

One of the game’s deepest mixed game fields will resume battle on Day 2 of Event #44: $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. Championship, with Philip Long leading a star-studded list of specialists in the hunt for this prestigious WSOP gold bracelet.

Long is joined by fellow WSOP bracelet winner Brad Ruben as the only players to bag more than 300,000 chips on Day 1. Plenty of other notables are close behind inside the top 10, including Yuri Dzivielevski, Gary Benson and Andres Korn.

The surviving 97 of 192 entrants from opening day will resume their chase, along with any new registrants prior to the start of Level 11. Defending champion Kevin Gerhart and former event winner Anthony Zinno remain in the hunt, as do Shaun Deeb, Mike Matusow and reigning WSOP Main Event champion Koray Aldemir.

Play will resume Tuesday at 2 p.m. local time with seven levels of 90-minutes each, along with a dinner break after Level 14. The tournament will continue through a five-game rotation, which includes Limit Hold'em, Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better, Razz, Seven Card Stud, and Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better.
