Matthew Ashton Eliminated in 8th Place ($155,421)

Level 20 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Matthew Ashton
Matthew Ashton

Pot-Limit Omaha

Matthew Ashton raised to 175,000 on the button and was called by Dan Cates in the small blind.

The flop came {10-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{4-Spades} and Cates checked. Ashton then bet the size of the pot (450,000), which represented a bit under half his remaining stack.

Cates then check-raised to put Ashton all in and the Brit called to risk his tournament life.

Matthew Ashton: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{8-Diamonds}
Dan Cates: {q-Spades}{10-Clubs}{9-Spades}{6-Hearts}

Both players had got it in with top pair, with Ashton holding the better kicker. However the {q-Diamonds}, gave Cates a second pair, and the {5-Clubs} on the river couldn't save the 2013 PPC champion, solidifying Cates' chip lead as the unofficial final table was reached.
