Shtanger Gets Knockout

Level 21 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

After a raise to 45,000 from middle position and a call from Eduard Shtanger in the cutoff, the big blind moved all in for around 240,000. Middle position put in the call before Shtanger jammed as well, for about 375,000 more. After a few minutes of tanking, the middle position player folded face up, showing {a-Spades}{q-Spades}. Shtanger pulled his chips back towards himself and it was a heads-up showdown.

Opponent: {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
Eduard Shtanger: {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}

Shtanger was ahead, and the {10-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{9-Spades}{3-Hearts} runout did nothing to change that. His pocket kings were still good, and he scooped the large pot while his opponent was sent to the rail.

Pfeiffer Builds his Stack

Level 21 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

The player in the hijack raised to 40,000 and called a three-bet worth 120,000 from Justin Pfeiffer in the cutoff.

The dealer showed a flop {3-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} and the hijack quickly check-folded after Pfeiffer fired 250,000 into the pot.

Lendvai Finds a Double Up

Level 21 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Tamas Lendvai shoved in the hijack for his last 215,000 and the cutoff called to create the following showdown:

Tamas Lendvai: {10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}
Cutoff: {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}

Lendvai was in bad shape for his tournament's life but the board ran out {j-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} to give two pair to Lendvai and the needed double up.

Select Chip Counts

Level 21 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Fowler Cracks Queens and Busts One

Level 21 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Bryan Fowler opened and the cutoff shoved for a total stack around 230,000. It folded back to Fowler who tokk a minute before sending a chip for the call:

Cutoff: {q-Hearts}{q-Spades}
Bryan Fowler: {10-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}

Fowler's hand was dominated but the flop {q-Clubs}{8-Spades}{9-Diamonds} gave him the straight. The {4-Diamonds} showed up on the turn and {6-Diamonds} hit the river to improve Fowler's hand into the flush and bust his opponent.

Palivoda with Massive Stack After Three Way All-In

Level 20 : 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante
Michael Palivoda
Michael Palivoda

The details of this hand were provided to PokerNews after the fact by players at the table.

After some betting, only three players stayed in the hand to see the flop, including Mike Palivoda. The flop put an eight and a ten on the board, and two hearts. One player moved all in for around 600,000, and the next rejammed for around 1,100,000. Palivoda made the call with both covered.

Opponent 1: {8-}{8-}
Opponent 2: {10-}{10-}
Mike Palivoda: {a-Hearts}{a-}

Palivoda was behind to both opponents, who had both flopped a set, but had outs with his over pair, and the backdoor nut flush draw. It was that draw that brought him the big pay day, as he hit runner-runner hearts to complete his flush and make the best hand.

Palivoda scooped the massive pot, and scored the double knockout at the same time. His stack is now as big, if not bigger, than anyone else's in the room. It took him the next few hands just to get his chips all stacked neatly.

Gagnon Chips Up on Enselme

Level 20 : 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante

Samuel Gagnon started the action on the cutoff with a raise to 30,000. After some consideration, Arnaud Enselme called in the big blind.

The flop fanned {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{k-Spades} and Enselme check-called a small continuation worth 20,000 from Gagnon. The {2-Clubs} turn brought no betting action.

On the {a-Spades} river, Enselme tossed a pile of 5,000-chip in front of him, for a bet around 75,000. Gagnon quickly called and Enselme tabled {10-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}. The pot was sent to Gagnon who revealed {a-Hearts}{4-Clubs} for trips.

Tsinis Takes it Preflop

Level 20 : 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante

It folded to Arkadiy Tsinis in the small blind who completed and the big blind decided to raise it to 45,000. Tsinis tanked for a minute and reprised to 125,000. His opponent let it go and Tsinis added the chips to his stack.

Ypma's Stack Continues to Grow

Level 20 : 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante
John Ypma
John Ypma

After a raise to 35,000 from early position, a reraise came from late position to 240,000, leaving himself just 5,000 behind. John Ypma made the call from the button and the early position player folded.

On the {8-Hearts}{4-Spades}{4-Hearts} flop, Ypma tossed in a single 5,000 chip and his opponent made the call, moving all in to do so.

Opponent: {10-}{10-}
John Ypma: {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}

Another player at the table called Ypma a "King magnet," as he had evidently woken up to cowboys previously. The {8-Clubs}{j-Clubs} runout changed nothing, and Ypma scooped the pot with his better pocket pair, adding to his massive stack.
