Johnston Scoops To Double

Level 13 : 2,000/3,000, 3,000 ante
Berry Johnston
Berry Johnston

Berry Johnston raised to 11,000 in the hijack and John Smitson called in the big blind.

On the flop of {j-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{4-Spades}, Smitson put Johnston all in for his remaining 4,000 and Johnston called.

Berry Johnston: {a-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{3-Spades}{q-Clubs}
John Smitson: {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}{j-Hearts}{q-Hearts}

The turn of {9-Clubs}, did not help matters for Johnston, but the river {a-Spades} gave Johnston a pair of aces to take the high and a three-two low for the best hand and the 1986 WSOP Main Event Champion doubled up.

Matusow Falls To Mackoff

Level 12 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Mike Matusow
Mike Matusow

Jonas Mackoff raised to 6,000 preflop from the hijack, Mike Matusow potted it, folding action back to Mackoff who repotted it to put Matusow all in who called to put his remaining 84,000 at risk.

Jonas Mackoff: {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{2-Spades}
Mike Matusow: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}

The board ran out {9-Hearts}{5-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{5-Spades} and Matusow could not find any high improvement, nor low improvement to stay alive and he exited the tournament area.

Three-way All In Ends With One All Out

Level 12 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Multi-way action had an under the gun raise to 8,000 followed by an all in by Mike Barlow for 39,000 and another shove by Per Hildebrand for 17,000. The original raiser called and cards were on their backs.

Opponent: {q-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{4-Hearts}
Mike Barlow: {k-Spades}{q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{9-Spades}
Per Hildebrand: {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{6-Spades}

The board came down {q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{3-Clubs} and Barlow was ahead for the high with a set of queens over the opponents set of fours. The turn was a {a-Clubs} and a {3-Clubs} on the river. Barlow's set was good for the side pot and the high hand and Hildebrand's six-seven was good to take the low while the opponent got eliminated from the tournament.

Bronshtein Rising

Level 12 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Yuval Bronshtein
Yuval Bronshtein

Action was picked up four ways to a flop with Yuval Bronshtein on the button.

The flop came out {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{5-Hearts} and action checked over to Bronshtein, who bet 15,000, which folded out all of his opponents except for the hijack who called.

The turn came out a {k-Diamonds} and action checked through to the {k-Spades} river, that saw the hijack check to Bronshtein who bet 25,000, sending his opponent into the tank. After less than a minute, the hijack called and Bronshtein turned over {a-Spades}{10-Spades}{8-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} for three tens with an ace, which was good as his opponent mucked, sending the pot Bronshtein's way.

Zack Hero Calls Correctly

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Action picked up on a flop between Dan Zack in early position and and player on the button.

The flop read {9-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{9-Spades} and Zack check-called a bet of 11,000 from his opponent.

The turn came out a {j-Diamonds} and Zack checked to his opponent once more, who moved all in for 31,000 which sent Zack into the tank. After some time he put in a frustrated call and his opponent tabled his hand.

Opponent: {6-Hearts}{7-Spades}{7-Hearts}{8-Spades}
Dan Zack: {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{10-Spades}{5-Spades}

The river {j-Clubs} filled up both players, but it was Zack's jacks full of kings that was good to eliminate his opponent and take down the pot.
