Steinman Makes a Seven in Multi-Way Pot

Level 17 : Limits 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Ian Steinman: {x-}{x-}/{2-}{a-}{6-}{a-}/{x-}
Donovan Bates: {x-}{x-}/{10-}{5-}{9-}{9-}/{x-}
Vincent Griboski: {x-}{x-}/{3-}{10-}{4-}{j-}/{x-}

Ian Steinman bet on fifth street and was called by both Donovan Bates and Vincent Griboski.

Bates went to bet on sixth, believing the dealer had called out two checks, before being informed they had actually pointed out Griboski's jack. "That kind of gives things away," Bates said.

Steinman bet again and both opponents called. All three players checked on seventh.

"I got it," Steinman said, showing {5-}{7-}{q-} for 7-6-5-2-A to win the three-way pot.

Scott Baumstein: {x-}{x-}/{a-}{6-}{a-}{7-}/{x-}

Baumstein bet on fourth street which Kakon called.

On fifth street, both players checked to sixth street, where Baumstein checked once more and Kakon bet, getting a call from Baumstein.

On seventh street it was Baumstein that led out and Kakon called. Baumstein turned over {3-}{4-}{k-} for a seven-six which was good for the pot as Kakon mucked.

Devonshire Takes From Couden Amid Dispute

Level 17 : Limits 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Bryan Devonshire: {x-}{x-}/{7-}{a-}{3-}{9-}/{x-}
Joey Couden: {x-}{x-}/{7-}{a-}{j-}{a-}/{x-}

With Bryan Devonshire and Joey Couden both showed ace-seven on fourth, the dealer pointed to Devonshire to act first. The table protested, claiming that Couden should act first with the {7-Spades} and asked that the floor be called over to clarify.

Action proceeded in the hand, with Devonshire betting on fifth and sixth and Couden calling. Devonshire slowed down and checked on seventh before snap-calling a bet.

Couden flashed a {3-}{6-}, but Devonshire turned over {5-}{k-}{4-} for 7-5-4-3-A to win the pot.

Seventh street checked through and Cernuto turned over {a-}{4-}{k-} for a ten-seven and Blomberg shook his head as he tossed his hand into the muck. Cernuto now sits as one of the bigger stacks in the tournament.

Kassela Gives It Up in Five-Way Pot

Level 16 : Limits 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Matthaei bet again and this time Kassela gave it some thought before folding. Matthaei showed a deuce as he dragged in the pot

"I was ahead on sixth. I would have raised if this was a cash game," Kassela said after the hand.

"These chips don't grow on trees," Matthaei responded.

According to tablemate Arthur Morris, five players put in two bets on third before Kassela and Matthaei went heads-up.
