Salazar and Bronstein Seek First Bracelets on Day 3 of $1,500 Mixed No-Limit Hold'em/Pot Limit Omaha

Aden Salazar

After two days of action in Event #76: $1,500 Mixed No-Limit Hold'em/Pot-Limit Omaha, only 11 players remain from a starting field of 1,234. Among them is WSOP bracelet winner Sandeep Pulusani (1,210,000), who grinded with a short-to-average stack for much of Day 2 and when play resumes, he will start with 20 big blinds.

The road for the gold won’t be easy and he will face off against several other notables from the poker community, including Esther Taylor (1,385,000), Richard Kellett (1,580,000), Vegard Andreassen (3,500,000), and Jordan Kaplan (1,000,000), who just cashed in 507th place in the Main Event.

Bagging the chip lead into Day 3 is Aden Salazar with a hefty 9,140,00, more than double than his closest opponent, Noah Bronstein, with 4,200,000. Salazar, at just 21 years old, is seeking the gold on his very first participation at the WSOP and already finished 5th in Event #53: $5,000 Mixed No-Limit Hold'em/ Pot-Limit Omaha (8-Handed) event last month. He will be looking to improve on that performance as he takes 152 big blinds into the day.

Level 26 : Blinds 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

The cards are now in the air for Day 3 of Event #77: $1,500 Mixed No-Limit Hold'em/Pot-Limit Omaha with 11 players left.

Levels will continue at 60 minutes in duration, and the next redraw will be at the final table.

No-Limit Hold'em

William Leffingwell opened from under the gun to 160,000. Action folded around to Jordan Kaplan in the small blind, who moved all in for around 1,000,000. Vegard Andreassen, the big blind, got out of the way, leaving Leffingwell with the last action. He made the call, covering Kaplan, although not by a huge margin.

Jordan Kaplan: {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}
William Leffingwell: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

Kaplan had Leffingwell dominated and seemed poised to double up. The {5-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} flop didn't change much, but the {6-Diamonds} turn brought a flush draw into the picture for Leffingwell. Any diamond or king on the river would knock Kaplan out of the tournament.

When the {a-Diamonds} hit the felt, Leffingwell let out an enormously loud "DIAMOND!" that could be heard throughout Bally's Event Center and possibly beyond. His flush had been made, making Kaplan the first to fall here on Day 3.

The river was the {3-Hearts} and Leffingwell checked then folded after Salazar made a bet of 280,000.

Lam Takes One from Taylor

Level 26 : Blinds 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

Pot-Limit Omaha

In a three-way raised pot, the flop showed {k-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{8-Diamonds} and Sandeep Pulusani checked in the big blind, as did Vincent Lam. Esther Taylor, on the button, bet 260,000 and after some consideration, only Lam called.

The turn revealed the {2-Diamonds} and both checked.

On the {7-Hearts} river, Lam opted to bet 420,000 and Taylor didn't take long to muck her cards.

Taylor Doubles Through Chuprun

Level 26 : Blinds 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

No-Limit Hold'em

Esther Taylor opened from under the gun to 175,000. Daniel Chuprun moved all in from the small blind. Once the big blind, Vincent Lam, got out of the way, Taylor snap called, putting herself at risk.

Esther Taylor: {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}
Daniel Chuprun: {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}

Chuprun was going to need some help in order to eliminate Taylor, but none came on the {6-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{j-Spades}{k-Diamonds} runout, which left him drawing dead on the turn. Taylor scooped the pot, doubling her own stack, while leaving Chuprun with under ten big blinds.
