Lam's Boat Fills Up for Knockout

Level 12 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

After Vincent Lam opened from the hijack to 6,000, the cutoff moved all in for his last 21,500. The big blind tanked for a bit before making the laydown, leaving the action on Lam. He thought for a minute or two before tossing in the call.

Cutoff: {3-Diamonds}{3-Spades}
Lam: {4-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}

The two were flipping, but Lam quickly pulled ahead when the {4-Clubs} appeared in the window of the {9-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} board, not to mention him picking up a flush draw. Lam was already more than a 9:1 favorite, and the {4-Hearts} turn improved him to a set, leaving his opponent with just two outs. The {5-Hearts} completed the board and filled up Lam's boat. He scooped the pot and scored the knockout.

Play Resumes in The Closer

Level 12 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Cards are back in the air in the Paris Ballroom and registration is now closed.

Currently there are 2,021 registered for Day 1b which is more than double the number of entries in Day 1a and more than the entries combined for the 2021 equivalent.

There is still a line in the center of Paris Ballroom of late registrants waiting to be assigned a seat, so the final number of entries is not confirmed.

Dinner Break

Level 12 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

The players have just been sent on a 75-minute dinner break and play will resume at 7:55 p.m. There are currently 1,909 entries in the tournament and late registration will close at the end of the dinner break.

Double Knockout

Level 12 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

An under the gun all in push for 35,000 had Thomas Newton on the button shoving over top for close to 100,000 and the big blind moving all in for 55,000. With three all in, the cards were on their backs.

Thomas Newton: {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}
Big Blind: {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}
Under the Gun: {a-Spades}{10-Diamonds}

The board ran out {5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{a-Hearts}{j-Clubs} and with the ace on the turn hitting for Newton and his queen kicker coming in to play, he busted out both opponents shortly before the dinner break.

Medvedenko Finds A Right Call On Scary Board

Level 12 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

With 81,500 in the middle on a completed board of {j-Hearts}{10-Spades}{6-Spades}{9-Hearts}{10-Clubs} Slava Medvedenko bet 21,500 from early position. The button moved all in covering Medvedenko.

Medvedenko went deep into the tank and found the call after a couple of minutes. The button showed {k-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} for jacks and tens but Medvedenko turned over {q-Hearts}{q-Spades} for a better two pair and a huge double up.

Lam Takes it Without Showdown

Level 12 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Four players helped build the pot to 18,000 before the {2-Clubs}{q-Spades}{a-Diamonds} flop hit the felt.

Action checked to Vincent Lam in the hijack who fired for 16,000. The button and small blind got out of the way before the big blind made the call, giving heads-up action to the turn.

The big blind checked the {k-Hearts} turn over to Lam, who tossed in a bet of 20,000. The big blind thought for a moment before begrudgingly mucking his hand.

After playing and failing to bag on Day 1a, Lam is hoping for some better luck on Day 1b. He's enjoyed plenty of success so far this series, cashing in six events, highlighted by a fourth place finish in Event #77: $1,500 Mixed No-Limit Hold'em/Pot-Limit Omaha, for which the Canadian took home the biggest score of his career at $91,800.

Cada Takes One on the Flop

Level 11 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

With 22,000 in the middle and a flop of {k-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{4-Spades} showing, the small blind bet 5,000. Joe Cada in middle position went in to the tank for a minute before deciding to move all in for around 26,900.

His opponent thought about if for a few seconds before tossing his hand in the muck and Cada scooped the pot without having to show.

Deuces Good for Greenstein

Level 10 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Barry Greenstein opened from the hijack for 3,000. He got called by both blinds. The blinds checked the {3-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{9-Hearts} flop over to Greenstein, who continued for 5,000. The small blind called while the big blind got out of the way.

The pair checked through the {5-Diamonds} turn leading to the {7-Spades} river. The small blind led out on this street, firing for 3,500. Greenstein thought for just a moment before tossing in the call. The small blind showed {j-Hearts}{q-Clubs} for queen high before Greenstein turned over {2-Clubs}{2-Spades} for a pair, good enough to scoop the pot.

Elsewhere in the room, Yaser Al-Keliddar was seen heading to the rail after being eliminated.
