Shepek Doubles Through Deeb With Quads

Level 33 : Blinds 150,000/300,000, 300,000 ante
Rhonda Shepek
Rhonda Shepek

Shaun Deeb shoved 2,750,000 and Rhonda Shepek committed her last 1,450,000 from the next seat over. The rest of the table got out of the way and action was heads-up with Shepek at risk.

Rhonda Shepek: {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}
Shaun Deeb: {j-Spades}{9-Spades}

The board ran out {k-Spades}{6-Hearts}{a-Spades}{a-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and Shepek picked up quad aces to secure a crucial double through the five-time WSOP champ.

A few minutes later, Deeb was seen on his way to the payout window after a failed attempt to spin up his short stack.

Deeb Wins Critical Flip

Level 31 : Blinds 100,000/200,000, 200,000 ante
Shaun Deeb
Shaun Deeb

Shaun Deeb had his opponent covered by just 50,000 and was holding the {7-Diamonds}{7-Spades} vs the {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} as it was a very crucial flip.

The flop was great news for Deeb as it came {7-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{9-Spades} to give him the boat. The turn was the {q-Clubs} and the river the {4-Spades} to give Deeb the near double up and keep his run for a sixth bracelet very much alive.

Ian Steinman
Ian Steinman

Ian Steinman called the jam from his shorter stacked opponent and was well behind as he had the {a-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} while his opponent held the {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}.

The flop came {a-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} to give Steinman a flush draw. The turn was the {10-Clubs} and the river was tough on his opponent as the {7-Diamonds} came off to give Steinman the flush.

Straight Over Top Set For Martin

Level 27 : Blinds 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Philip Martin
Philip Martin

Action was picked up on the turn as the board read {9-Spades}{a-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}. Action went check-check.

The river was the {8-Spades}. From under the gun, Jonathan Dokler moved all in and Phillip Martin snap-called from middle position by tossing one chip in the pot.

Dokler had the {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades} for top set of aces but that was beaten out by the {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs} straight of Martin to send the sizeable pot over to him and take much of Dokler's stack away.

Biles Knocks Deeb Short

Level 27 : Blinds 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Oliver Biles
Oliver Biles

Action was caught at the very end of the hand as the board showed {5-Clubs}{9-Spades}{j-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}. Oliver Biles made a river bet which Shaun Deeb called after thinking for a while.

Biles tabled the {k-}{8-}. Deeb shook his head and mucked his cards in frustration as his stack was knocked down to short one following the call.

Ho Holds Off Pham

Level 26 : Blinds 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Duy Ho
Duy Ho

The flop read {10-Spades}{9-Spades}{q-Hearts}. From middle position, David Pham bet 180,000. Duy Ho raised all in from the cutoff and the player under the gun tanked for a while before folding his hand. Pham called.

Ho had the lead with the {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for top two but would have to hold off the {a-Spades}{2-Spades} flush draw of Pham. The turn was the {j-Hearts} to also give Pham the broadway draw. But the river was a complete brick, the {3-Diamonds} and Pham's stack was decimated while Ho shot higher up the counts.

Jorge Hou
Jorge Hou

Jorge Hou has had a good start to Day 2 as he was spotted taking all of the chips of a fallen opponent as the board read {8-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{q-Hearts}.

Hou had the winning hand with the {k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for the nut flush while his opponent had the {a-}{k-} for no good top two, as he became one of the bigger stacks early on Day 2.
