Koon Holds Forth as Nilles Makes Nut Flush

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

"This is the best tournament of the year. It's almost magical," Jason Koon said as tablemate Pedro Mendoza opened with a raise to 1,600 from the button.

Christian Nilles called in the big blind as they saw a flop of {k-Spades}{3-Spades}{6-Spades}. Mendoza bet another 2,700 and Nilles called before both players checked the {9-Spades} turn.

The river came the {10-Spades} and Nilles threw out a red 5,000 chip, with Mendoza snap-calling. Nilles showed {a-Spades}{8-Hearts} for the nut flush and Mendoza flashed the {q-Spades} before mucking.

Afterward, the table asked Koon his opinion on who is the greatest tournament player of all-time. "You can make an argument for Erik Seidel. Or even Daniel Negreanu. So congratulations, you made it further than the best ever," Koon replied.
