Kosk Makes a Backdoor Flush

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

Three players saw a flop of {k-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} and Zofimo Xavier led out for 2,400 into the pot of about 6,000. Ermo Kosk was next to act and called before the button got out of the way.

The {3-Diamonds} hit the turn and Xavier continued for 4,500, which was quickly called by Kosk.

The {7-Diamonds} completed the board and Xavier fired another bullet, putting out 5,000. Kosk raised to 20,000 and Xavier didn't take much time before making the call. Kosk tabled {k-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} for top pair that ran out a backdoor flush and Xavier mucked his hand.

Koon Holds Forth as Nilles Makes Nut Flush

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

"This is the best tournament of the year. It's almost magical," Jason Koon said as tablemate Pedro Mendoza opened with a raise to 1,600 from the button.

Christian Nilles called in the big blind as they saw a flop of {k-Spades}{3-Spades}{6-Spades}. Mendoza bet another 2,700 and Nilles called before both players checked the {9-Spades} turn.

The river came the {10-Spades} and Nilles threw out a red 5,000 chip, with Mendoza snap-calling. Nilles showed {a-Spades}{8-Hearts} for the nut flush and Mendoza flashed the {q-Spades} before mucking.

Afterward, the table asked Koon his opinion on who is the greatest tournament player of all-time. "You can make an argument for Erik Seidel. Or even Daniel Negreanu. So congratulations, you made it further than the best ever," Koon replied.

Villaman's Flush Gets Paid

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

Amir Sahebdivani raised to 2,000 in early position and Ray Villaman called in the cutoff.

The dealer spread a flop of {a-Spades}{j-Hearts}{10-Hearts} and Sahebdivani continued for 1,800 and was called.

The {k-Hearts} hit the turn and Sahebdivani dropped three yellow chips for a bet of 3,000 and Villaman paused for a second before making the call.

The {j-Diamonds} paired the board and Sahebdivani slowed down with a check before Villaman pushed out a bet of 7,500. Sahebdivani thought about it for a few seconds and made the call to see Villaman's {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for the nut flush and Sahebdivani mucked his hand.

Minkin Off to a Hot Start

Level 6 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante

Kelly Minkin came into the day with just over 200,000 chips but has already surpassed the 300,000 mark in the early going of Day 2abc. There were four players that went to the flop of {10-Hearts}{6-Spades}{3-Hearts} and the action checked to Minkin who bet 4,200 into a pot of around 9,000. Duane Wellnitz was the only player to call from the big blind.

The turn brought the {a-Diamonds} and Wellnitz checked again. Minkin sized up with a bet of 15,000 this time and Wellnitz was forced to send his cards to the muck, sending another pot to Minkin.
