D'Ambrosio Can't Hold With Big Slick; Run Ends on Featured Table

Level 15 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Jimmy D'Ambrosio
Jimmy D'Ambrosio

Jimmy D'Ambrosio spent the last few hours on one of the featured tables for the PokerGo stream. Unfortunately, his run has just came to an end after getting it in good.

In a hand from the live stream, Josh Meyer shoved from the small blind and D'Ambrosio called from the big for his last 64,000.

Jimmy D'Ambrosio: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}
Josh Meyer: {a-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}

The {6-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} was an interesting one, as D'Ambrosio paired his king, but Meyer also paired up and picked up a flush draw. The turn {6-Spades} was an unlucky one for D'Ambrosio as Meyer made trip sixes and left him drawing thin.

The {8-Hearts} river was not what he needed and he was gracious in defeat as he said some kind words to the table.

"Good game sir," said Nick Schulman on the stream. "Enjoyable sweats, the Jimmy D sweats."

"He will be missed," added Ali Nejad.

D'Ambrosio has five cashes so far in this series, including two top-25 finishes. Although he bows out on Day 3, the poker world has been put on notice by one of the best players and personalities in the game.

Aldemir Wins With a Double Down Hand

Level 15 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Koray Aldemir
Koray Aldemir

A middle-position player raised to 13,000 to find one caller, Koray Aldemir in the big blind.

The dealer burned and flopped {6-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{4-Hearts}. Aldemir checked and called a bet of 12,000 from his opponent.

On the {2-Spades} turn, both players checked to head to the fifth community card.

The river {3-Diamonds} hit the board and Aldemir led for 19,000. His opponent thought for about 15 second before tossing in the call.

Aldemir showed the {9-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} for turned trips and the winner, smiling as he raked the pot.

Just before the break, John Perry raised to 10,000 and Oliver Entine three-bet to 26,000.

Jesse Sylvia, the 2012 Main Event runner-up, four-bet jammed for 180,000. Perry re-shoved and Entine joined the action too for a massive preflop all in.

Jesse Sylvia: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}
Oliver Entine: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}
John Perry: {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}

The {7-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} runout was clean for pocket aces and Entine tripled, while Syliva was sent out.

Eric Baldwin is also seated at this table and William Smith still holds a big stack.

Pumpernick Doesn't Believe Mustafov

Level 14 : Blinds 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Roman Pumpernick
Roman Pumpernick

Three ways to the {8-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{2-Hearts} flop, it checked to Fahredin Mustafov and he then bet 17,000. Roman Pumpernick in the small blind was the only caller and the {4-Diamonds} fell on the turn. Pumpernick now bet 15,000 only for Mustafov to raise it up to 75,000, which the Austrian snap-called.

They headed to the {4-Clubs} on the river and Pumpernick now checked. Mustafov bet 131,000 for nearly half of his remaining stack and Pumpernick eventually called to win the pot with {q-Clubs}{8-Clubs}, as Mustafov had bluffed all the way with {10-Clubs}{7-Clubs}.

Nick Howard
Nick Howard

The board read {k-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{q-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} on the river. The pot was a large one of about 290,000. From the big blind, Nick Howard bet 215,000 over to his opponent who went into the tank. The bet was for about 2/3rds of his stack.

Howard waited for the decision which eventually was a call Howard tabled trips with the {7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} and his opponent mucked to move Howard higher up among the chip leaders.

With the board showing {4-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{q-Clubs}, William Smith bet 17,000 from the button and John Perry called from early position.

The river brought the {a-Clubs} and Perry checked. Smith sized up to 55,000 and Perry tank-called.

Smith rolled over {a-Spades}{5-Spades} trip aces and Perry mucked it. He has now crossed the half-million mark with a couple hours left in the day.

SO SICK! Kings vs. Kings Cooler Busts Sam Abernathy from the WSOP Main Event

Level 14 : Blinds 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Samantha Abernathy
Samantha Abernathy

Level 11 of the 2022 World Series of Poker Main Event was unkind to 888poker ambassador Sam Abernathy, who lost a brutal bad beat to exit poker's world championship event.

During the first level of Day 3, with around 110,000 in chips and the blinds at 1,000/2,500, Abernathy picked up {k-Hearts}{k-Spades} and was poised to earn a valuable double-up, perhaps putting her in position to make a run at the money, and then potentially deeper as the tournament progressed. But her opponent, Mike Gao, also had {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}, so a chop pot seemed inevitable.

Orbit of Hands with Former Champ Chris Moneymaker

Level 14 : Blinds 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Chris Moneymaker
Chris Moneymaker

For the third straight year, Chris Moneymaker has built up a sizable stack on Day 3 of the Main Event. The 2003 world champion is hovering around the 100 big blind level. PokerNews recorded a round of hands for the player many consider responsible for the 2000s poker boom, starting on the button.

Hand #1: An early position player raised to 11,000 and Moneymaker folded.

Hand #2: Action folded to Moneymaker, who also folded.

Hand #3: The under-the-gun player raised to 11,000 and Moneymaker again mucked his cards uneventfully.

Hand #4: Action folded to Moneymaker, and he did as well.

Hand #5: Moneymaker opened to 11,000 and received a call only from Kenny Tran in the small blind. The flop came {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{5-Hearts} and both players checked. They again checked the {7-Diamonds} turn and {8-Spades} river. Tran showed {a-Spades}{j-Hearts} and Moneymaker mucked his cards face-down.

"I played that hand about as bad as I could," Moneymaker said.

Hand #6: Moneymaker followed the under the gun player by folding.

Hand #7: From under the gun, the Poker Hall of Famer folded his cards instantly.

Hand #8: The player in early position raised to 10,000 and Moneymaker was the only one to call. The flop was {a-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} and Moneymaker check-folded to a bet of 8,000.

Hand #9: The player in late position raised to 11,000, enough to convince the 2003 world champ to toss his cards into the muck.

Moon Keeps the Run Good Going With Big Slick

Level 14 : Blinds 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Benjamin Moon
Benjamin Moon

Ben Moon raised to 11,000 from under the gun and only Moran Merdinger called from the big blind.

Merdinger checked on the {9-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{10-} flop and Moon cut out a stack of 50,000, enough to cover Merdinger. She called and was at risk.

Moran Merdinger: {8-Hearts}{6-Hearts}
Ben Moon: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}

It was a cooler flop as Merdinger had flopped a straight with an open-ended straight flush draw, while Moon had the ace-high flush draw.

The turn brought the {3-Hearts} to put Moon in front with his flush and the river bricked off as Merdinger was eliminated.

Moon has had quite a spin-up today, starting with just 33,000. He's now nearing half a milly late in the day.

Ryan Feldman
Ryan Feldman

On the side feature table Ryan Feldman moved all in for 38,000 from early position and was called by Austin Apicella on the button.

Ryan Feldman: {a-Clubs}{j-Spades}
Austin Apicella: {a-Spades}{q-Spades}

The {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{6-Hearts} flop brought in some chop outs but Apicella remained ahead on the {7-Diamonds} turn. The {4-Spades} river completed the board and Feldman was eliminated from the WSOP Main Event.
