Everyone Loves a Chop Pot

Level 17 : Blinds 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

Sam Soverel bet 450,000 from early position, leaving just 125,000 behind. Justin Bonomo made the call from the small blind.

The flop came 235 and Bonomo bet 200,000. Soverel called and was at risk.

Sam Soverel: KK
Justin Bonomo: 44

Soverel was ahead with the overpair but Bonomo had many outs, having flopped an open-ended straight draw. One of those outs came for Bonomo on the 6 turn which left Soverel with no chance of outright winning the pot.

The river came the 4 leaving a six-high straight on the board, and both players chopped the pot.

Level 17 : Blinds 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
Sam Soverel
Sam Soverel

Alex Foxen opened to 220,000 from the cutoff before Sam Soverel moved almost his entire stack into the middle, leaving himself just 10,000 behind.

The button and blinds got out of the way to send the action back to Foxen who raised. Soveral quickly called off for his last few chips.

Sam Soverel: A8
Alex Foxen: JJ

Soveral was not in great shape and failed to improve on the 6310Q3 runout, sending him to the rail in seventh place.

Two Streets of Value for Klein

Level 17 : Blinds 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

Bill Klein opened to 225,000 from early position and received calls from Jans Arends in middle position and Alex Foxen in the big blind.

Foxen checked the 67K flop and Klein bet 250,000, receiving a call from both opponents.

The turn came the Q. Foxen checked, Klein bet 500,000, Arends folded and Foxen called.

Both players checked the 9 river. Klein showed the KQ for top two pair which was enough to take down a sizable pot. Foxen showed K9 for a worse two pair before throwing his cards into the muck.

Arends Makes Tough Call

Level 17 : Blinds 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

Picking up the action on the river, Jans Arends in the big blind was involved in a hand with Justin Bonomo in middle position. With the board reading 56Q1010 Arends bet 650,000.

Bonomo responded with a raise to 2,650,000. That sent Arends deep into the tank as he burned through four time banks.

Eventually he made the call and tabled KQ. Bonomo could only show down QJ, handing Arends a massive pot while sending Bonomo to the bottom of the chip counts.

Davies Clashes with Foxen

Level 18 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

Seth Davies opened to 270,000 from the button and Alex Foxen raised to 975,000 from the small blind. Davies made the call and action was heads up.

The flop came 33K and Foxen bet 450,000. Davies called.

Both players checked the K turn. On the 5 river, Foxen made a roughly pot-sized bet of 2,800,000. Davies thought about his decision for a moment before making the fold, awarding Foxen a big pot without having to go to showdown.

Arends Shoves River

Level 18 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Jans Arends
Jans Arends

Action folded around to Jans Arends in the small blind and he raised to 410,000. Leon Sturm called in the big blind to see a flop.

Both players checked through the J96 flop to the A turn, at which point Arends either bet and was called or check-called a bet from Sturm.

The J river paired the board and saw Arends check to Sturm, who announced a bet of 1,350,000. Arends thought for some time before jamming with the covering stack. Sturm appeared uncomfortable with the situation, playing with his chips as Arends covered his face with his hoodie. After quite some time, Sturm did muck his holding to take a big hit to his stack late in the day.

Foxen Takes from Davies Again in Battle of the Blinds

Level 18 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

Action was picked up on the flop with the board showing 1075. Seth Davies checked and called a 145,000 bet from Alex Foxen.

After Davies checked the K turn Foxen fired again, this time for 800,000. Davies made the call.

The river was the A and Davies once again opted to check. Foxen fired another river bet for 2,225,000 and this one was enough to force a fold from Davies.

Jans Arends opened to 300,000 from middle position and Justin Bonomo moved all in. Arends quickly made the call to put Bonomo at risk.

Justin Bonomo: AQ
Jans Arends: AK

Bonomo was in bad shape with a worse kicker, but found a favorable flop when the board ran out Q98. The K turn shifted the advantage back to Arends and the 5 river sealed Bonomo's fate in this tournament. Arends scooped a large pot to end the night and Bonomo hit the rail in 6th place.
