Ivey Jams Into Becker to Soar Up the Leaderboard

Level 14
Johannes Becker - Phil Ivey
Johannes Becker - Phil Ivey

Pot Limit Omaha

In a battle of the blinds, the turn showed 9623 and Johannes Becker made it 164,000 to go out of the small blind for Phil Ivey to call in the big blind. That brought them to the 7 river and Becker moved forward a bet worth 492,000 for a large portion of his remaining stack.

"How much do you have?" Ivey inquired and glanced at his table neighbour. Ten seconds later, he announced "all-in" and that sent Becker into a world of pain. He instantly sighed and leaned back, groaning, then moved up his hoodie to stare at the board with just one eye.

The tank of Becker lasted just two minutes before he sent the cards into the muck, allowing Ivey to drag in a large pot and join the chip leaders.

Tong Bounces Back Against Coleman

Level 14

No-Limit 2-7 Single Draw

Kristopher Thong had previously been bluffed out of a pot by Josh Arieh on a king-high river when the latter showed 54 for a missed straight draw. "I had a rebluff, I had queen-high," Tong mentioned to his table mate before the game variant switched.

Maxx Coleman raised to 30,000 on the button and Tong three-bet to 130,000 in the big blind. The call by Coleman led to the drawing round on which both players discarded one.

Tong bet 185,000 for Coleman to tank-call and the 8x7x4x3x2x of Tong won the pot.

Sion Makes Big Laydown

Level 14

Pot-Limit Omaha

Phil Ivey opened to 35,000 from middle position and was called by Elior Sion in the big blind.

Sion checked and then called a bet of 40,000 from Ivey after the flop came AJK.

The 6 turn saw Sion check for a second time and then call again after Ivey pushed 150,000 into the middle.

Once the 8 river completed the board, Sion checked for a third time. Ivey responded by counting out a bet of 400,000, putting Sion to the test for almost all of his remaining chips. After several minutes, Sion, who appeared to be going through the wringer, folded his hand, showing the table AA while keeping his other two cards face down to leave himself fairly short as the money bubble approaches.
