Turner Stands Pat

Level 18 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 15,000 ante

Bradley Jansen opened to 24,000 from under the gun and was called by Jon Turner on the button. Philip Sternheimer then three-bet to 175,000 out of the big blind, getting a fold from Jansen. Turner, on the other hand, made the call.

Sternheimer took one while Turner chose to stand pat after which action went check-check. Turner tabled 10x7x6x4x3x, sufficiently strong to take down a large pot just before the break.

Assorted Chip Counts

Liu Comes Through

Level 18 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 15,000 ante

Erik Seidel raised 23,000 from under the gun, Ariel Celestino called from the button, and Wing Liu from the big blind.

All three players opted to draw a card, and action was checked around to Celestino who bet 50,000.

Liu called and Seidel folded. Celestino waited until Liu had spread out 9x8x7x6x before pushing his hand into the muck.

Maria Ho Plays Like a Gangster

From the cutoff Nick Guagenti raised 25,000. Maria Ho in the small blind asked Guagenti to reveal the rest of his stack. Then she sized up the stack of big blind Elia Ahmadian.

Placing four green 25,000 chips on top of a stack of twenty pink 5,000 chips, she moved 200,000 into the middle, enough to put either or both of them all in.

First Ahmadian, then Guagenti folded, and Ho took down the pot.

Ruben Sends Collopy to the Rail

Level 18 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 15,000 ante

Richard Ashby opened to 26,000 from under the gun and action folded around to Jim Collopy in the cutoff who moved all in for 156,000. Brad Ruben then re-jammed his slightly larger stack on the button to send Ashby deep into the tank. After some time, Ashby decided to let go of his hand.

Collopy took one while Ruben stood pat. Ruben then showed down Jx8x6x4x3x and Collopy, with 8x7x5x3x, was drawing very live. He could not hit on his last card, however, peeling the Jx to make a worse jack-eight and hit the rail late in the day.

More Players Sent Packing

Level 18 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 15,000 ante

Holley Gets a Knockout

Level 18 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 15,000 ante

John Holley opened on the button only to see a player in the small blind move all in. Holley quickly called with the covering stack to put his opponent at risk.

The small blind took one while Holley opted to stand pat after which Holley tabled 9x8x5x3x2x. Holding 9x5x4x3x the small blind would need to find a two, six or seven to survive but could not do so, instead pairing up the 3x to hand the knockout to Holley.

More Dreams of Victory Ended

Level 18 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 15,000 ante

Ho Hanging Around

Level 18 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 15,000 ante

Maria Ho has been holding steady with a below average stack for quite some time now by making enough moves to maintain her chip count. Ho opened to 18,000 from under the gun and Michael Trivett defended out of the big blind.

Both players drew one card. Trivett then checked to Ho, who counted out a bet of 32,000. That sent Trivett into the tank but he emerged having decided on a fold to concede the pot to Ho.
