Event #7: $1,500 Limit Hold'em begins today at 2:00 p.m. local time inside the Paris Las Vegas Hotel and Casino.

The three-day event will begin play with a starting stack of 25,000, with fifteen 40-minute levels and a fifteen-minute break every three levels. The first level will be 100-200 blinds and 200-400 limits. Late registration will be open for the first nine levels, and is expected to end at approximately 8:45 p.m. local time.

Last year Michael Moncek won the event, adding his first bracelet to three WSOP Circuit Rings, and $145,856 to his $235,000 lifetime earnings. Remarkably, it was his first time playing limit hold ‘em as he bested a field of 522, including bracelet winner Yueqi Zhu and 2015 WSOP Main Event winner Joe McKeehen on his way to the title.

“It feels awesome, especially in a game that I’ve never played before,” Moncek said following his win. “I’m going to have to learn to play it now.” It shows that at the World Series of Poker, anything can happen, and anyone can make their dreams of winning a bracelet come true.

Previous winners include Yuval Bronshtein, David “ODB” Baker, and Robert Nehorayan.

Coverage begins today at 2:00 p.m. local time and PokerNews will be following along and providing live updates and chip counts throughout the day.

Alvidrez Takes Down an Early Multi-Way Pot at Showdown

Level 1 : Limits 200/400, 0 ante

The player under the gun raised and saw two calls from Orlando Alvidrez in middle position and the player on the button before the dealer spread out a flop of 4AK.

Action checked to the button who bet and got called in both spots before seeing the J on the turn. The player in the small blind decided to lead before seeing two calls and a river of 9.

The small blind and Alvidrez both checked to the button who bet out, prompting a call from the small blind and a raise from Alvidrez. The button player folded before the small blind stuck in a call to see the Q7 of Alvidrez who took down and early multi-way pot.

Higa Takes Down Early Pot

Level 1 : Limits 200/400, 0 ante

Charles Williams limped in late position during early action, but John Higa raised to 400 on the button.

The small blind, big blind and Williams flatted, leading to four players to the flop, which brought out K A 9.

The blinds checked their respective options, putting the action on Williams, who bet 200 and saw Higa flat. The action then went to the blinds, and both players folded.

The turn produced A to pair the board and putting a spade draw for both players to consider. Williams and Higa both checked, bringing the action to the river, which produced 4.

Williams checked, but Higa bet, which Williams called to see Higa’s K Q. Williams mucked his hand, leading the dealer to push the pot to Higa.
