Levin Left Short After Straight Over Straight
Level 2
: Blinds 200/300, 300 ante
In a four-way pot on a board of 7♣5♥J♣9♦, Randy Levin bet 5,200 and David Cowling raised to 16,200. Two players folded and Levin three-bet jammed with Cowling covered. Cowling quickly called with a stack of around 35,000.
"Am I drawing dead?" Levin asked before the cards were flipped.
David Cowling: 10♣8♣
Randy Levin: 8♦6♦
His fears were confirmed; Levin was drawing to just a few chop outs as his opponent had a higher straight. The 4♦ river confirmed a double-up for Cowling and left Levin on fumes.
