Day 2 of Event $11: $1,500 Badugi Begins at 1 PM

With a total of 487 players making a prize pool of $650,145, Day 2 of Event #11: $1,500 Badugi sees the second day of play begin at 1 p.m. in the Horseshoe, Las Vegas. The 139 surviving players will see the top 74 secure a minimum of $3,000, with all eyes on the first place prize of $129,676.

Leading the way is Arkansas native Joseph Wagganer, sitting with 268,500. With $110,016 in lifetime cashes and several WSOP cashes in mixed triple draw events, Wagganer is no stranger to deep runs in draw games at the WSOP. He looks to use his massive stack to secure his first bracelet. The podium is rounded out by Oscar Johansson (218,000) and Mark Roland (217,500).

Not skipping a beat after taking home his second bracelet is Nick Guagenti (153,000). After playing what was a lengthy heads up battle in the $1,500 Limit Hold’em event, he hopped into this event in the last minutes of registration in hopes of securing a third bracelet. Other notables that survived include Jerry Wong (191,000), Frank Kassela (175,000), Alex Livingston (148,000), Dan Zack, (120,000), and Michael Moncek (117,500).

Players will return to sixty-minute levels beginning at Level 16, coming back to blinds of 2,000-4,000, and limits at 4,000-8,000, with a 15-minute break occurring after every two levels. Players will go on an hour-long dinner break at the conclusion of Level 21, after which the field will play another four levels before bagging up for the night.

Dickson Takes From Ufano

Jorge Ufano raised from the cutoff and Ren Lin called on the button while Adam Dickson called in the small blind.

Dickson drew one while Ufano and Lin both drew two. Dickson checked over to Ufano who bet and Lin called while Dickson responded by raising which only Ufano called.

Dickson and Ufano stood pat, leading to a bet from Dickson which Ufano called. The same action repeated on the third drawing and betting round.

Dickson showed 643A for a six-four and he took a sizable pot off of Ufano.

Shortly after this hand, Lin was eliminated from the tournament along with Thomas Ricketts.

Heikkila drew one while Rodriguez drew two. Heikkila led with a bet, Rodriguez raised, and Heikkila three-bet all in, which Rodriguez called.

Both players stayed pat on the next two draws.

Murata Fires Thrice

Yuya Murata raised in the hijack and Chip Jett called in the big blind.

Jett and Murata drew one, with Jett checking over to Murata who bet and Jett called. The action repeated on the following street of drawing and betting.

On the final round, Jett drew one and Murata stood pat while Jett checked dark. Murata bet, Jett looked at the card he drew and then tossed his hand into the muck.

Prociak Loses Some To Hole

Andreas Hole raised in the hijack and David Prociak three-bet on the button, folding out the blinds. Hole four-bet, which Prociak responded to by five-betting, which Hole called.

Both players stood pat every draw, with Hole betting every street and Prociak calling each time.

Hole turned over 842A for an eight-four which was good for the pot as Prociak mucked his hand.

Torrez Eliminates Sarle

John Torrez opened the hijack and then called when Dominick Sarle three-bet from the cutoff.

Torrez drew one while Sarle stood pat. Torrez check-called a bet from Sarle.

Torrez took one again and check-raised to put Sarle at risk of elimination.

Torrez decided to stay pat on the final draw, which put Sarle in a difficult position and he decided to break a badugi.

Torrez revealed 7654 and Sarle was already drawing dead as he showed 832. To add insult to injury, Sarle drew the 4 to make a worse badugi as he exited to tournament area.
