Gheba Doubles Through Hart

Level 30 : Blinds 100,000/200,000, 200,000 ante
Daniyal Gheba
Daniyal Gheba

Daniyal Gheba raised 400,000 with K9. Action folded to Brent Hart in the big blind, and he defended with Q9.

Then, the situation became rather spicy.

The dealer fanned K69 on the flop, giving Hart middle pair and four to the flush. Gheba had flopped top two pair.

Hart checked, Gheba bet 550,000, and Hart called.

The turn produced Q, giving Hart two pair, which was inferior to Gheba’s hand. Hart once again checked, and Gheba fired out a 700,000 bet. Hart almost beat Gheba into the pot by announcing an all-in bet, which covered Gheba’s stack.

Gheba went in the tank, contemplating his next move. After moments elapsed, Gheba put his tournament life on the life with a call.

Hart needed any queen or a club to show up, but the 2 on the river sent the massive 8,850,000 pot to Gheba and placed a large dent in Hart’s chip stack.

Ved Picks Bad Time to Fire at Pot

Level 30 : Blinds 100,000/200,000, 200,000 ante

Kartik Ved and Eddie Ochana were involved in a battle of the blinds.

Ved held 64 and limped in from the small blind, while Ochana checked his big-blind option with J6.

The dealer fanned KQ10 on the flop, which drew checks from both players. The 8 arrived on the turn, resulting in Ved leading out for 300,000 with his flush draw. Ochana, who had an open-ended straight draw on the flop, elected to call.

The A hit the river, which completed Ochana’s nut straight. Ved, though, bet 600,000 with air into Ochana.

Ochana glanced at his opponent to his right, and then counted out chips before announcing a 2,000,000 raise. Ved immediately mucked his hand.

This Poker Jinx on the $5K Bubble Will Leave You Speechless!

Martin Stausholm
Martin Stausholm

Is there ever such a thing as a jinx in poker?

Martin Stausholm would be forgiven for thinking so after bubbling the debuting Event #16: $5,000 8-Handed No-Limit Hold'em at the 2024 World Series of Poker.

Stausholm, a poker player from Denmark, was one of the 823 entries to make up the field. From Day 1, 239 out of 660 made it over the first hurdle, and they were joined by 163 more players who took advantage of the Day 2 registration.

With that, 402 players were in contention for the $660,284 first-place prize, but only 124 of them could make the money and take a share of the $3,785,800 prize pool.

At 125 remaining, Stausholm had a run-in with Alex Keating, which featured a premature announcement.
