Raul Manzanares was all in from late position preflop when Benjamin Luber three-bet all in from the cutoff. Action folded around and both players were heads up.
Benjamin Luber: A♣9♦
Raul Manzanares: A♥10♥
The board ran out K♥A♦6♣7♦10♦ and Manzanares's rivered second pair secured him the knockout.
But less than three levels later, she’s become a force with 930,000.
And she’s doing it not just with her skills, but with a touch of flair to the appreciation of her competition.
Decked out in a light purple hoodie, dark sunglasses with white frames, and large earrings, Richards raised in early position to 25,000.
Action folded to Tristian Wade in the big blind, resulting in a lighter moment of poker at the table.
“I haven’t looked at my cards yet, but I want you to know I like your poker look,” Wade said. “Purple hoodie, sunglasses. Not intimidating, but just right.”
The comment drew laughs from the table, including Richards.
“Thank you,” Richards said. “It’s what I’m going for.”
As for the poker hand, Wade peeked at his cards and folded, allowing Richards to add to her growing stack.
Action was picked up with Sriharsha Doddapaneni all in preflop and at risk from late position for roughly 210,000. Doddapaneni was called by Anna Antimony in middle position.
Sriharsha Doddapaneni :A♣J♠
Anna Antimony :K♣K♥
The board ran out 10♦8♠A♠9♦10♥, giving Doddapaneni top pair and a much needed double up.
Jessica Richards came out of Day 1 with a modest stack of 119,000 chips or just 12 big blinds, but has managed to run it up nicely in the early hours of Day 2.
She hit a bump on the road when she lost a pot of around 300,000 chips to Rainer Kempe, who made a full house with 8♦8♥ on 10♠6♥10♥Q♦8♣. Kempe bet the river for 100,000 in position and Richards called to be shown the bad news.
Nevertheless, Richards was able to chip up the very next hand at the expense of Kevin Andriamahefa. Richards opened from early position, and action folded to Andriamahefa in the small blind. Andramiahefa only had 66,000 chips and he moved all in. Richards called.
Kevin Andriamahefa: A♦6♠
Jessica Richards: K♥K♠
The board was J♣3♥10♥7♠7♥ and Andriamahefa was eliminated.
A waiter in the Horseshoe Bronze section was offering lucky water to the players. Raul Martinez wanted to see how lucky the water was, he asked the waiter for a bottle of "lucky" water, he then proceeded to play the next two hands against Brock Wilson.
Martinez raised to 25,000 from the button and was called by Wilson in the big blind.
Action checked through on a 9♥7♣10♠ flop and 10♦ turn.
Wilson bet 50,000 on the 10♣ river and Martinez folded.
The very next hand Martinez raised to 25,000 from the cutoff and was called by Wilson in the small blind.
Both players checked on the K♣K♦J♠ flop.
Wilson bet 55,000 on the 6♥ turn card, and Martinez folded. Wilson doesn't believe in lucky water, he believes in chipping up without showdown.
Arnaud Enselme opened to 25,000 in early position and the action folded to the button, where Anna Antimony sat.
Antimony slowly peeled back her cards, and then placed a chip on them. She looked at Enselme’s raise, then glanced to her opponent before reaching into her stack to count out chips.
When she finished, Antimony three-bet to 68,000.
Enselme didn’t give the hand too much thought because Antimony’s raise produced a quick fold.
Fahredin Mustafov probably couldn’t believe what was happening around him.
Uri Reichenstein moved all in, and then Mustafov peeked down at his cards. He liked what he saw and called to put Reichenstein at risk.
The action wasn’t finished, however, as Jack Duong, who was to Mustafov’s immediate left, moved all in.
Mustafov also had Duong covered and snap-called to produce a rather large pot.
Uri Reichenstein: 10♣9♣
Jack Duong: Q♥Q♣
Fahredin Mustafov: A♠A♣
The dealer fanned A♦5♥3♠ on the board, giving Mustafov top set and a virtual lock on the hand. The 9♥ on the turn and 4♥ on the river provided Mustafov a double knockout.
“I had fun,” Duong said with a smile to his tablemate before exiting the area.
