Life Outside Poker is a new podcast for PokerNews hosted by Connor Richards that seeks to pull back the curtain on poker players and allow viewers and listeners to get to know them on a personal level.

In the eighth episode, Connor speaks with legendary UFC ring announcer Bruce Buffer in an exclusive in-depth interview after Buffer's deep run in the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) $50,000 High Roller. Buffer, a longtime poker player, finished in eighth place for a career-best $212,423 after kicking off Day 3 with his trademark "it's time" introduction.

Buffer talked about finding his long-lost half-brother, Michael Buffer, and becoming his manager, the early days of the UFC, the similarities between poker and martial arts, his relationships with Joe Rogan and Dana White, playing poker with Tobey Maguire and Leonardo DiCaprio and the time he injured himself in a poker tournament before announcing the biggest UFC fight in history.

Benny Glaser raised in the hijack and Lawrence Brandt called on the button, Steve Zolotow called in the small blind, and Mike Leah called in the big blind.

The flop rolled out 4♠Q♠5♣ and action checked around to Brandt who bet and everyone called.

On the turn 2♣, Zolotow checked over to Leah who bet and only Brandt called.

Leah checked the 10♠ river over to Brandt and he put a bet in. Leah counted out his remaining chips and then tossed his cards into the muck, ceding a sizable multiway pot over to Brandt.

Both players checked on the J♦7♦10♠ flop and then Pisarenko called a bet from Leah on the 4♥ turn.

Leah bet his last 130,000 on the 7♥ river and PIsarenko tanked a while, but eventually decided to make the call.

Leah turned over J♠10♣ for a flopped two pair and Pisarenko mucked — awarding the double up to Leah.

Glaser made a bet on sixth and seventh and both Pisarenko and Zolotow called him down.

Glaser turned over two pair with a seven low, Pisarenko tabled three sevens, Zolotow revealed three queens, and Leah peeled a six-high straight — giving Leah the main and chopping the side between Zolotow and Glaser.

Pisarenko called a bet from Glaser on fifth and then both players checked on sixth.

Glaser went back to betting on seventh and Pisarenko went deep into the tank. Pisarenko grabbed calling chips and placed them in front of his stack, to which Glaser asked, “Is that a call?” Pisarenko claimed it wasn’t and folded shortly afterwards.

Glaser shook his head and said, “That’s borderline,” as he collected the chips.

On fifth street, Zolotow bet and Leah raised his last chips in.

"Well I don't think I'm ahead," said Zolotow "but I'm not going anywhere."

They got in their chips on fifth street and Zolotow saw he was ahead.

"I thought it was my eights versus your nines."

Sixth street paired up Leah's nines.

"It is," Leah smiled as the seventh street card improved nobody and Leah doubled once more. "I saw into the future that it was gonna be nines versus eights."
