Konnikova Finds Some Value

On a board of 8♠3♣6♠K♠10♠, and with about 7,000 in the pot, the player from middle position had checked. Maria Konnikova bet 2,500 from the button and her opponent went deep into the tank, mulling over the decision for around a minute. Eventually, he called and Konnikova flipped over 9♠9♣ which was good to win the pot.

Getting to the table the flop showed 5♠3♣9♦. An early position player had checked and faced a bet of 3,000 from Stanley Weng. He made the call and they headed to the turn.

The A♠ turn saw Weng's opponent check-call a bet of 6,500.

After it checked to Weng on the J♥ river, he moved all in. The bet was for his opponent's remaining 25,100 chips. After a lot of thought, the early position player folded his cards.

According to the players, action started with a raise from Davide Suriano under the gun to 400, which was called by Patrick White in early position. Player in middle position raised to 1,800, which was called by Suriano, but White made it 5,200. Both middle position and Suriano called.

The flop was 4♦5♥7♠. Suriano checked and White bet for about a third of the pot. Middle position folded, Suriano called.

The turn was the K♣. Suriano checked again and White bet around 5,000. Suriano now raised all in, which was for around 17,000 chips total. White called.

Suriano had flopped a great hand with the set of fours and was getting action from White’s overpair. However, White made a better set on the turn, which meant Suriano was drawing to one remaining four in the deck. The river was the 2♥ and Suriano was out.
