Robinson Puts Max Pressure on Stankov

Level 31 : Blinds 100,000/200,000, 200,000 ante
Ivan Stankov
Ivan Stankov

Vitalijs Zavorotnijs raised to 400,000 from under the gun, Ivan Stankov called in middle position, and Colin Robinson called from the big blind. The flop was 1097 and Robinson and Zavorotnijs checked. Stankov bet 400,000, Robinson called, and Zavorotnijs folded.

The Q on the turn brought the fireworks. Robinson checked, Stankov bet 1,400,000, and Robinson responded with a big check-raise all in. It was effectively for Stankov's remaining stack of nearly 6,000,000.

The usually very stoic Stankov seemed taken aback by the shove, and his expressionless face changed. He agonized over his decision for the better part of five minutes but ultimately decided to go with the fold.

Level 32 : Blinds 125,000/250,000, 250,000 ante
Carl Shaw
Carl Shaw

Akshat Bajaj raised to 525,000 in middle position and Carl Shaw defended the big blind. Both players checked the 966 flop. Shaw bet 650,000 on the Q turn and Bajaj called.

The river was the 8 and Shaw checked. Bajaj bet 2,100,000 and Shaw went in the tank. For the first time today, he removed his sunglasses to intensely study the board and his opponent.

After several minutes, he flicked in the calling chips, only to be shown the bad news by Bajaj, who had J10 for a runner-runner straight.
