Li Yan's Double Misfortune
Level 17
: Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Li Yan started the action with a raise to 16,000 from early position. Nancy Nguyen then three-bet to 42,000, which Yan called.
On the 5♦Q♣4♣ flop, Yan promptly went all in and Nguyen called.
Nancy Nguyen: A♠A♣
Li Yan: 10♣9♣
The board didn't improve for Yan, and Nguyen doubled up, leaving Yan with 24,000 behind.
In the very next hand, Yan found herself in the big blind. Nadya Magnus raised to 16,000 from early position, Yan called, and then immediately went all in as soon as the dealer revealed the 4♠5♦K♠ flop. Magnus called, and it went to showdown.
Li Yan: 10♣9♣
Nadya Magnus: 7♥7♦
Yan had good prospects as the turn brought the 6♥, but the 6♦ on the river gave Magnus a better two pair, resulting in Yan's elimination.
