Pessoa Snaps Off Nunez

Heads-up on a flop of 5JK, David Nunez bet 2,200 from under the gun and Guilherme Pessoa called in the small blind.

The turn was the Q and Nunez bet 5,000. Pessoa then raised to 13,500, Nunez moved all in for around 32,000, and Pessoa snap called.

Nunez showed KQ for two pair, but Pessoa had A10 for the nut straight. Nunez needed to fill up on the river to stay alive but missed the J as he headed for the exit.

Johnson check-called a bet of 3,000 from Nguyen on the QKQ flop.

The 10 turn checked through to the 3 on the river. Johnson took the lead for 9,000 and Nguyen made the call. Johnson tabled AQ for flopped trips, winning him this pot.

Action picked up on the river in a hand between Dragana Mackelprang in the cutoff and the player in the hijack.

With about 37,000 in the pot and the board reading 67Q210, the hijack checked and Mackelprang fired out a bet of 21,000.

The hijack, who was clearly faced with a tough decision, asked Mackelprang, "You wouldn't bluff me on Day 1, would you?"

Mackelprang smiled and the hijack eventually tossed his cards into the muck. Mackelprang tabled 66 for three of a kind, sixes.

Paniak Flops Top Set

Robert Beaster opened the action with a raise to 1,600 from the hijack. Maksim Paniak three-bet to 4,800 from the small blind and Beaster made the call.

Paniak continued for 3,200 on A35 before Beaster raised to 8,200. Paniak put in a reraise to 19,200 and Beaster got out of the way. Paniak showed AA while raking in the pot.

Action went check-check on a rainbow KJ8 flop before McCall took the betting lead wagering 3,500 on the 6 turn. Cvetkovski called.

McCall checked the 3 river over to Cvetkovski who bet 5,000. After some deliberation, McCall folded his cards.

Kalinin Takes from Dato

With two players seeing a board of 5102 and about 7,000 in the middle Andrea Dato checked from early position and Nikita Kalinin bet 3,200 from middle position. Dato made the call.

Dato checked again on the K turn and Kalinin bet 8,000. Dato opted to muck and Kalinin took the pot without showdown.

Stewart Makes a Tough Call to Double

Action picked up on the river in a hand between Casey Stewart in early position and the player in the cutoff.

With over 15,000 in the pot and the board reading Q1075J, Stewart checked and the cutoff bet enough to put Stewart all in, who had 12,500 behind.

With his tournament life on the line, Stewart pondered his decision before eventually making the call.

He was relieved to see that his opponent was bluffing with 36, and secured the double up by tabling JJ for three of a kind, jacks.
