Level 1 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Philip Wiszowaty
Philip Wiszowaty

Action picked up on the river with a sizable pot brewing in a hand between Philip Wiszowaty in the cutoff and Michael Rocco on the button.

With roughly 150,000 in the pot and the board reading KQ398, Wiszowaty checked and Rocco bet 224,000. Wiszowaty took some time to think through his decision before ultimately flicking in the call.

Rocco showed 1010 for a pair of tens, and Wiszowaty tabled K10 for a pair of kings.

Rocco was left with just one big blind after the hand.

There was a limp from under the gun, Isaac Haxton limped from middle position and Seth Davies called from the small blind. Anthony Zinno raised to 12,000 out of the big blind which only the under the gun player called.

Zinno checked the KJ5 flop and faced a bet of 13,000 from his opponent. Zinno called, and they headed to the turn.

Zinno checked again on the 2 turn. Under the gun bet 24,000 and was met with a raise to 92,000 from Zinno. The under the gun player called.

Zinno bet 90,000 on the 9 river. His opponent shoved all-in for 183,000. Zinno went deep into the tank, using one of his time extensions. Eventually, he made the call.

Anthony Zinno: KK All in
Under the gun: 22

Set over set in one of the very first hands of the tournament meant Zinno would double up, and his opponent would be left with just one big blind.

Six $25K Fantasy Players Return for Day 6 of the 2024 WSOP Main Event; Field Bonus at Top 108

The 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) is nearing its conclusion, but there is still plenty of poker action before the doors close on the Las Vegas series. That includes crowning a winner in the $10,000 Main Event, which attracted a record field of 10,112 players. However, just 160 players will return for Friday’s Day 6, and of those six are draftees in the popular $25K Fantasy Draft.

Each of these players is guaranteed a modest three fantasy points, but if they can outlast 52 players and make the top 108 they will trigger the massive 100-point field bonus, which could have big implications in the current standings.

The Main Event money bubble burst back on Day 4, and since then 27 players from the $25K Fantasy league have hit the rail, each earning three points in the process. They include Day 5 casualties in Adrian Mateos (Team Lucky), Ryan Hoenig (Team Chingas), Josh Reichard (Team Oz), Jesse Lonis (Team Girl Dads), Alex Livingston (Team Lang), Nacho Barbero (Team Negreanu), David “Bakes” Baker (Team Lang), Bin Weng (Team Chingas), Phil Ivey (Team Sepiol), Anson Tsang (Team Lady Gaga), Maria Ho (Team Noori), and Adam Friedman (Team Sepiol).

Welcome back to PokerNews, the official media partner of the 2024 World Series of Poker and home of live updates from all bracelet events.

Today sees the start of Event #92: $50,000 High Roller No-Limit Hold'em here at Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas.

This three-day event gets underway at 2 p.m. local time, with late registration open for 13 levels. This event allows for one reentry. There will be 15-minute breaks every three levels.

The starting stack is 300,000 chips, with the plan for Day 1 to play 12 40-minute levels. For the surviving players or those looking to take advantage of late registration, Day 2 begins at 1 p.m. on July 13 and ends when the final five players are determined. Day 3 is when a champion will be crowned.

Last year’s event attracted 176 entries, generating a prize pool of $8,404,000. The winner was rising star Alex Kulev who defeated Gergely Kulcsar heads-up to win $2,087,073 and his first WSOP bracelet.

With this score, Kulev rose to number one on the all-time Bulgaria money list.

“It feels good, but it doesn’t take away from the other players high on that list. Ognyan Dimov and Dimitar Danchev have helped me a lot in my career and I don’t like to rank them in any way, it’s just an honor to be there.”
