Yockey Finally Gets the Better of Mahmood
Level 10
: Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
No-Limit Hold'em
Bryce Yockey and Ayaz Mahmood were heads-up in a pot with the flop reading 10♣4♥3♥. Yockey led out with a bet of 50,000 from the small blind and Mahmood raised to 150,000 in the cutoff. Yockey three-bet shoved all in for 476,000 and Mahmood quickly called.
Bryce Yockey: A♣10♥
Ayaz Mahmood: K♥10♠
Yockey held the better kicker in what turned into a chip-leading pot late on Day 1. The J♣ hit the turn and the A♠ on the river to give Yockey two pair and a double up.
One hand later, Mahmood got the last of his chips in the middle with pocket tens but ran into the ace-jack of Sam Soverel. An ace on the turn locked up the pot for Soverel and Mahmood went from riches to rags.
