Smith Turns a Straight to Regain Chip Lead
Level 29
: Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Rafael Mota raised from under the gun to 250,000 and Dusti Smith three-bet to 590,000 from the cutoff. When it got back to Mota, he called.
The flop came 7♥10♣9♦ and after Mota checked, Smith fired 380,000. Mota called.
A J♦ hit the turn and again Mota checked, and again Smith fired, this time for 1,515,000. Mota went into the tank for around two minutes before he carved out calling chips and pushed them into the pot.
When the 9♠ river paired the board, Mota checked and Smith quickly checked back. Mota showed A♠J♥ for a pair of jacks, but Smith had turned a straight with K♥Q♥ to scoop the pot.
