Byrd Busts Out

Level 23 : Blinds 0/0, 30,000 ante

106K57
QJ8A5

Timothy Byrd found himself first to act and bet the maximum for 200,000, leaving just 35,000 in his stack behind. Next to act Ian Matakis then reshoved for 635,000 and action folded all the way back round to Byrd, who placed in his remaining seven 5,000 denomination chips.

Byrd was holding a gutshot on the top, as well as top set and a blocker to the nut straight on the bottom with AQQ9. Matakis was also very strong, holding KJJ10 for top two pair on top, along with middle set and an open-ender on the bottom. The first runout came clean for Matakis, whose top two stayed good, and his turned Broadway on bottom allowed him to scoop.

David Williams

First to act David Williams bet out 80,000 into the field. When action folded round to Bjorn Verbakel, he potted. The bet covered Williams, who called and put himself at risk.

Williams' J10107 had a flush draw on both boards, however they both bricked and he was left playing just a pair of tens on each. Verbakel's AK86 stayed in the lead the whole way, as he knocked his opponent out just before the pay jump.
