One Card Too Many; A Hand is Dead
The Hand Before Break:
Joao Vieira raised and Leandro Pimentel pushed forward his short stack all in, committing himself. The blinds folded and when it came back to Vieira he declared a call but it was quickly evident when Pimentel turned his hand over that he had one too many cards with the A♦K♥J♠8♥5♠2♥.
Vieira showed A♠K♦7♣3♥2♣ but before anything else could be done, the floor would be called. Action was held and the first floor called another floor over to clarify the ruling on this unique situation.
In the end, the floor ruled that Pimentel would sacrifice one big blind to the pot and his hand was declared dead. According to floor, the ruling would have been different if it hadn't been a raise for his tournament life with no action behind. If he had a bigger stack, it's most likely the ruling would have had him forfeit the entirety of his raise.
The table agreed that this was the best way to deal with an honest mistake and there were no complaints from any of the players at the table.
