Alexander Greenblatt raised to 60,000 from under the gun. John Juanda then moved all in from the small blind for roughly 280,000, putting himself at risk. Rainer Kempe followed with an all-in shove from the big blind for roughly 1,000,000. Greenblatt folded, leaving Juanda in rough shape.
John Juanda: A♦J♥
Rainer Kempe: A♣A♠
The dealer did not assist as he spread a 10♣7♠5♥6♠2♥ board, ending Juanda's impressive run in Event #29.
Jamey McKay opened for 65,000 in middle position and got called by the player to his left, Stian Usterud. With action folded to the big blind, Shijia Liu raised to around 380,000 leaving about 25,000 behind.
McKay folded but Usterud four-bet to 650,000 sending Liu to the tank and in the tank he stayed for quite some time. While considering his options, he watched the clock tick while chatting with the other players on the table. What he was waiting for, only God knows.
After sometime, McKay finally asked the question, "What is he waiting for?" directing the question to Usterud. Liu, overhearing, just answered that he needed a few seconds more.
Finally he made the call, taking them to showdown.
Shijia Liu: A♥K♣
Stian Usterud: A♠10♠
The board ran faster than Liu did in the tank going 4♣6♣3♣6♠5♠. With no one hitting the board, Liu's ace-high with a better kicker won the pot.
Nicholas Funaro raised from under the gun to 60,000, and Ryan Wolfson three-bet to 125,000. Funaro four-bet to 400,000, and Wolfson just called. The flop came out with 4♠J♥8♠, and Wolfson checked. Funaro bet out 160,000, and Wolfson made the call.
On the turn 7♥, Wolfson led out for 250,000, and Funaro moved all in for 600,000. Wolfson called.
Nicholas Funaro: K♣K♠
Ryan Wolfson: A♦A♠
The river 8♦ was not the king that Funaro required, and he was eliminated, and Wolfson became a monster stack.
Rainer Kempe opened the action with a raise to 60,000 from middle position, and Paul Runcan defended his big blind with a call.
The flop came Q♦K♠J♣, and Runcan check-called a continuation bet of 60,000 from Kempe.
Both players slowed down on the A♠ turn and checked it through.
When the A♥ landed on the river, Kempe took his time before firing a sizable bet of 285,000. Runcan didn’t hesitate to call, and the cards were tabled.
Kempe revealed A♣J♥ for a full house, and Runcan quickly mucked as the pot was pushed to Kempe.
Stephen Graner got things started with a raise to 60,000 from the early position. Edward Quinn quickly responded with a three-bet to 180,000, and Zhi Yang came over the top with a four-bet to 345,000, leaving himself just 5,000 behind. Graner got out of the way, but Quinn made the call. He tossed in a 5,000 chip to cover the rest whilst the dealer tabled the flop, and Yang called for his all-in. The flop was dealt, and both hands were revealed.
Zhi Yang: K♥K♣
Edward Quinn: A♦Q♥
The board ran out Q♦6♥4♥9♥2♣, giving Quinn a pair of queens, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Yang’s pocket kings. Yang secured the double-up and stayed alive.
The action was picked up on the river with the board being 6♥9♥Q♣10♠9♣, and Anthony Ibrahim moved all in for his last 480,000 from the small blind. The pot was about 120,000. Ryan Wolfson was on the button and made the call.
Anthony Ibrahim: A♥10♥
Ryan Wolfson: 8♠8♥
Ibrahim had the best of it with two pair and scooped a nice pot.
Jamey McKay raised to 65,000 from middle position. David McGowan then went all in and was at risk for 345,000 from late position. McKay took some time before making the call.
David Mcgowan: 9♣9♥
Jamey McKay: A♠10♦
The dealer ran out a board of 4♦4♣Q♦2♦J♥, securing a much-needed double up for Mcgowan.
