Affleck Chases First Bracelet; $3,000 Freezeout Starts Day 2 on Bubble

Matt Affleck
Matt Affleck

Event #35: $3,000 Freezeout No-Limit Hold’em saw a field of 1,027 dwindle down to just 156 who put their chips into bags for Day 2. Play will resume on the direct bubble at noon, local time. Players will be vying for their piece of a $2,742,090 total prize pool with eyes toward the $451,600 first prize and World Series of Poker hardware.

Long-time poker pro, Matt Affleck (690,000) bagged a healthy stack of 690,000 last night. He has a WSOP circuit ring, but the gold bracelet has eluded him. He’ll be looking to change that, but he’ll have to sift through a tough field.

Those sweating the 25K Fantasy Draft have plenty of names to look out for in the form of Scott Bohlman (292,000), Yuri Dzivielevski (393,000), Kristen Foxen (611,000), John Hennigan (677,000), and more.

Moorman Hitting the Showers, Kornuth Building Momentum

Level 18 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Chance Kornuth

Chris Moorman was all in from early position for 180,000, Chance Kornuth was also all in from late position for 117,000, and Carter Jones made the call from the small blind to potentially bust out two players.

Chance Kornuth: AA All in
Chris Moorman: 66
Carter Jones: KK

The board was 8758Q and aces held, giving Kornuth the best two pair and a much-needed chip boost. Jones took a significant hit to his stack, although he won a small side pot of 63,000, and his railing buddies instructed Moorman, "Go hit the showers."

Foxen Keeps Building

Level 18 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Kristen Foxen
Kristen Foxen

Kristen Foxen raised to 24,000 under the gun and Kevin Eyster defended his big blind.

The AQ6 hit the felt and Eyster check-called a bet of 16,000.

The turn peeled the 3 and Eyster checked once more. This time, he folded after Foxen bet 28,000.

It seems the bubble was good to Foxen as she continues to gain momentum, approaching the million mark.

Feltham Doubles Through Edoc

Level 18 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Lester Edoc
Lester Edoc

Cooper Feltham limped in the small blind to see a cheap flop but Lester Edoc defended his blind by raising to 52,000. Not willing to let go of his hand, Feltham shoved all-in for 250,000 from the small blind and Edoc made the call taking them to showdown.

Cooper Feltham: K9 All in
Lester Edoc: A9

Edoc had Feltham dominated but all that changed when the dealer flopped JK9. Feltham caught two pair leaving Edoc to hope for an ace to drop. The turn 3 and the river Q didn't help him. Feltham scooped the pot for a double up.
