Welcome back to PokerNews, the official media partner of the 2025 World Series of Poker and home of live updates from all bracelet events.

Today sees the start of Event #36: $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship here at Horseshoe and Paris, Las Vegas. This is a four-day event, with Day 1 starting at 2 p.m. local time. Late registration remains open until the end of Level 12, approximately 3:15 p.m. local time on Day 2. The plan for today is to play 10 levels, each spanning 60 minutes, with a 15-minute break every two levels.

Day 1 survivors return to their seats at 1 p.m. local time on Wednesday, June 11, and play another ten levels. Day 3 is scheduled for 1 p.m. local time on June 12. Details for Day 4 are yet to be confirmed.

Sean Troha is the reigning champion, with last year's triumph marking his third bracelet win. Troha's first came in 2022 in the $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Championship before he took down the $1,500 PLO 12 months later. Troha completed the hat-trick of PLO bracelets after besting 259 entries, which earned him a prize of $536,713.

This event regularly attracts the big guns, as you can see from past champions. Players such as Eli Elezra, Josh Arieh, Nick Schulman, and Phil Galfond have each claimed the title of champion. Expect another all-star cast in 2025.

Tuttle Wins With a Straight

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Ryan Laplante made it 400 to go on the button with Scott Tuttle calling from the small blind, and Benjamin Miner defending his big blind.

After it checked to Laplante on the 104Q flop, he bet 400, which only Tuttle called.

Both players were happy to check down the J turn and 5 river. Tuttle flipped over a straight with K977, which won him the pot.

Laplante Gets Three Quarters

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Scott Tuttle limped under the gun and Benjamin Miner limped the hijack before Ryan Laplante made it 1,000 to go in the small blind. Scott Eskenazi called from the big blind, Tuttle called, and Miner folded.

On the 875 flop, Laplante continued for 1,500 and only Eskenazi called.

The turn brought the 6. Laplante fired again for 3,500 and Eskenazi stuck around before the 9 river checked through.

Chen Wins a Multi-Way Pot With Trips

James Chen made it 600 to go from early position with Bart Hanson calling from the next seat, David Prociak calling from the small blind, and Calen McNeil defending his big blind.

After the blinds checked the 63Q flop, Chen bet 1,300. Hanson and Prociak called, but McNeil folded.

The 9 turn checked through to see the Q appear on the river. Everyone checked and Chen took down the pot with trip queens holding AKQ5.

Pisarenko's Check-Raise Gets the Job Done

Maksim Pisarenko opened the action with a raise to 800 from early position. Naoya Kihara three-bet from the cutoff to 2,900, which Pisarenko called.

Pisarenko knuckled the table on the A73 flop and Kihara put out a continuation-bet of 4,100. Pisarenko check-raised to 11,600, which forced Kihara to fold.

Luo and Smirnov Chop it Up

Level 3 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante

Three players saw the flop come down 332. Anton Smirnov checked from the small blind, and Xixiang Luo bet 700 out of the big blind. Anthony Zinno also called from middle position and they went three-ways to the turn.

After Smirnov checked the 6 turn, Luo fired out another bet, this time for 3,500. Zinno folded, but Smirnov stuck around with a call.

Two checks followed the 4 river and Smirnov revealed 8422 for a full house with a eight-six low. Luo showed AQJ4 for an inferior high but a better low, meaning they chopped the pot.

On the A76 flop, Breck potted, Mizrachi shoved for around 16,000, and Breck called.

Breck was in good shape with two pair and the better low draw. Mizrachi paired on the 5 turn but the 10 river was a brick as Breck had the better two pair and only low to eliminate Mizrachi.

Catching the action on the turn of a board that read JK46 and with around 12,500 in the pot. Dario Sammartino bet the pot for 12,500 from the small blind with Michael Korody calling from under the gun, and Joe Ritzie calling from the cutoff.

The 7 hit the river and Sammartino fired out a bet of 40,000. Korody and Ritzie folded, allowing Sammartino to pull in the pot.

Wantman Spikes the Turn to Eliminate Prociak

Action was picked up on the K109 flop with 16,400 in the middle between Dan Heimiller from the cutoff, David Prociak from the small blind, and Matthew Wantman in the big blind.

The action checked to Heimiller who bet 6,000 before Prociak jammed for 27,600. Wantman then rejammed and Heimiller folded.

Matthew Wantman: KKQ6

Prociak held the nut straight on the flop while Wantman had top set. No waiting was required for Wantman as the 10 immediately landed on the turn to give him a full house as Prociak was drawing dead to the 8 river.
