Ponakovs Rivers Lingham

Level 4 : Blinds 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Aleksejs Ponakovs raised in early position, and only Vinny Lingham chose to call, putting in the 10,000 from the cutoff.

Ponakovs chose to check the K109 flop, but Lingham wasn't interested in giving his opponent a free turn card. Instead, he bet 15,000, which Ponakovs called.

Ponakovs check-called another bet of 30,000 on the turn 2 before the river rolled off a third heart. Ponakovs again elected to check, and Lingham, who didn't like the look of the river, checked behind.

Lingham was correct with his suspicions as Ponakovs showed A3 for a rivered flush. A dismayed Lingham then showed the table that he had flopped the nut straight with queen-jack, receiving some plaudits from his tablemates for not losing more chips on the river.
