Day 2 Completed
Day 2 of Event #38: $100,000 High Roller has come to a close here at the 2025 World Series of Poker hosted at Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas. The event gathered 26 Day 2 entries, with 12 of those joining at the last possible point; notably among those 12 is the current chip leader, Aram Oganyan.
Oganyan sailed through each level of the day on the way to end the session with 20,425,000 chips. He sent multiple people to the rail and scooped numerous big pots including a crucial double-up to establish himself as the frontrunner. However, the hunt for his first bracelet is far from over, with some of the best poker players in the world still in contention.
Second, in chips, Joao Vieira, also bagged a very healthy 13,600,000 chips. Vieira found the dream of running aces into the kings of Isaac Haxton late in the day to balloon his stack after being the epitome of consistency since Level 1 of the event.

The total prize pool for this event grew to $9,939,500, with the $203,960 min-cash reserved for the top 16 places. However, every player has their eyes on seizing one of the most difficult bracelets on the schedule, along with the first-place prize of $2,649,158.
The money bubble was short-lived, as the players went from 18 down to 16 in a flash. Mathew Frankland ran queens into kings to go home in 18th, and then Taylor von Kriegenbergh was the bubble boy after he called the big blind, turned middle pair, and was sent home in 17th at the hands of Haxton.
In this event, every bust out is a notable one, but some that stood out above this long list of superstars were Daniel Negreanu, Stephen Chidwick, Dan Smith, Jason Koon, Brian Rast, Kristen Foxen, Jeremy Ausmus, Erik Seidel, Phil Ivey, and reigning champion Chris Hunichen. Out of these monumental names, only Ivey and Hunichen were able to make the money.

Isaac Haxton raised from early position to 400,000, and only the big blind, Joao Vieira, called.
Vieira checked the 5♣A♥7♥ flop, and Haxton continued for 200,000, which Vieira called.
Vieira then check-called again on the Q♠ turn, this time for 400,000.
Both players checked the 9♦ river. Haxton showed 10♦10♣, which was good enough to take down the pot.

Isaac Haxton raised to 425,000 in early position and Andrew Lichtenberger three-bet to 1,075,000 on the button. Joao Vieira four-bet to 2,400,000 from the big blind and Haxton five-bet jammed all in. Lichtenberger took a moment before letting his hand go and Vieira quickly called off his stack of 6,900,000.
Joao Vieira: A♠A♥
Isaac Haxton: K♠K♣
It was a massive cooler that left Vieira on the heels of doubling up to a massive stack. The board ran out Q♣9♣8♥4♠6♥ and Vieira's pocket aces held on to leave Haxton with just five big blinds.

Action folded to Joao Vieira on the button, who raised to 1,700,000, leaving roughly 900,000 behind. The small blind got out of the way, but Isaac Haxton moved all in from the big blind. Vieira put the rest of his chips in the middle, and he was the player at risk.
Joao Vieira: A♠4♠
Isaac Haxton: Q♠Q♣
Vieira's dismay turned to joy in an instant as the dealer fanned out the A♣10♠2♥ flop.
The J♥ turn gave Haxton some hope, but the 3♣ river sealed the deal for Vieira.

Andrew Lichtenberger and Ben Heath were heads-up in the blinds with around 1,000,000 in the middle. The board read A♥Q♣6♠10♣ and Lichtenberger started with a check. Heath counted out a large bet of 750,000 and Lichtenberger called.
The river was the 8♦ and Lichtenberger quickly checked again. Heath pushed out a bet of 2,800,000, leaving just around 800,000 behind. Lichtenberger went deep into the tank for over two minutes, using four of his time banks, and ultimately decided to fold.
