Theologis Runs into the Nuts Twice
David Peters raised from under the gun, picking up calls from Alexandros Theologis and Matthew Belcher from the next two seats. Nacho Barbero and Fahredin Mustafov called from the button and big blind respectively.
The 8♥4♦2♣ flop checked through to the J♠ turn, where Peters bet 16,000 into a pot of 63,000. Theologis was the only caller.
The 7♣ completed the board and Peters checked. Theologis bet 75,000, and was then put at risk for most of his stack as Peters jammed for 525,000. Theologis thought it over, eventually declaring a call.
Peters tabled 10♥9♥ for the nut straight. Theologis had 6♠5♠ for the second nuts and was reduced to his last 50,000.
Shortly after, Belcher opened from under the gun, and Theologis defended his big blind.
Theologis put in his last six big blinds on the 10x9x8x rainbow flop, and was snapped.
Theologis had Ax9x but ran into Belcher's QxJx which flopped the nuts. The board bricked out and Theologis departed for the second and final time.
