Huanging Around

Level 40 : Blinds 1,000,000/2,000,000, 2,000,000 ante

Action folded to Yu Hsiang Huang on the button, who moved his two big blind stack into the middle. The small blind got out of the way, but Roger Hendren called from the big blind.

Yu Hsiang Huang: K7 All in
Roger Hendren: 95

Hendren took the lead on the 9106 flop, but Huang had a flush draw, straight draw and an overcard to stay alive.

The turn J favored Hendren, giving him a flush draw too, but the river A ensured it would be a double up for Huang, giving him the nut flush.

Joey Couden
Joey Couden

Joey Couden raised to 4,000,000 on the button and Alexander Savchenko defended in the big blind.

The flop came 372 and Savchenko check-called a bet of 3,600,000 from Couden.

The A turn went check-check, bringing the J river. Savchenko led out with a bet of 6,700,000 and Couden snap called, tabling A8 for a pair of aces. Savchenko turned over 43 and the pot was pushed Couden's way.

Roger Hendren Eliminated in 7th Place ($29,818)

Level 40 : Blinds 1,000,000/2,000,000, 2,000,000 ante

Action folded to Roger Hendren in the cutoff, who moved all in for his stack of 6,000,000. Joey Couden, the chip leader, also moved all in from the button. When action got to the big blind, he saw an ace first, and then peeled the second card, showing the whole table as he did it, eventually revealing a ten, and folding.

Roger Hendren: AK All in
Joey Couden: A10

A great situation for Hendren, especially now he knew that one of his opponents' immediate outs had been folded.

Nevertheless, the deck favoured Couden. The flop came 4410, giving him the lead.

The turn 4 improved Couden to a full house, but did give Hendren an extra out to chop the pot.

Alas, it wasn't to be. The river 9 sealed Hendren's fate, and he headed toward the exit.

Action folded around to Joey Couden in the small bind who moved all in to put Brandon Sowers at risk who started the hand with 9,600,000. Sowers slowly squeezed his cards to take a look and made the call.

Brandon Sowers: A3
Joey Couden: J4

The flop came 2KK with Sowers still out in the lead. The Q turn was safe as well, but the 4 on the river ended his impressive tournament run.

Couden Pulls Further Ahead

Level 40 : Blinds 1,000,000/2,000,000, 2,000,000 ante

Joey Couden opened the cutoff to 4,000,000, and only Alexander Savchenko, on the button, chose to call.

Couden fired out a bet of 2,700,000 on the 859 flop, and Savchenko came along.

The turn brought the 10, and after taking a second look at his cards, Couden moved all in, covering his opponents' stack.

Savchenko wasted little time in folding, and Couden pulled in yet another pot.

Couden Showing No Signs of Slowing Down

Level 40 : Blinds 1,000,000/2,000,000, 2,000,000 ante

Yu Hsiang Huang raised to 4,000,000 on the button and Joey Couden defended in the big blind.

The flop came A2K and Couden check-called a bet of 2,500,000 from Huang.

The 9 turn went check-check, bringing the K river. Huang checked and Couden fired out a bet of 5,800,000.

After taking some time to think though his decision, Huang called and saw the bad news when Couden tabled K6 for trip kings.

Joey Couden opened to 4,000,000, and next to act, Alexander Savchenko, moved all in for 7,700,000. Action folded back to Couden, who snap-called and turned his cards over.

Alexander Savchenko: AJ All in
Joey Couden: AA

There was some hope on the flop for Savchenko when the dealer fanned out KKQ.

The 9 turn and 8 river were no help to him, though, and he vacated his seat as Couden pulled in yet another pot.
