Klodnicki Halts Thornton's Ascent

Schuyler Thornton raised in late position and Chris Klodnicki raised on the button, which saw Thornton call.

Thornton drew two while Klodnicki drew one, and Thornton check-called a bet from Klodnicki.

On the second draw, Thornton drew two while Klodnicki stood pat. Thornton checked and called a bet from Klodnicki once more.

The final draw saw Thornton draw one while Klodnicki stood pat and both players checked.

"You've got it," said Thornton as he flashed a king and Klodnicki turned over 8x7x4x2xAx for an eight-seven to take down the pot.

Klodnicki drew two while Thornton drew one, and Klodnicki check-called a bet from Thornton.

On the second draw, Klodnicki drew one, while Thornton stood pat and Klodnicki check-called again.

Both players stood pat and Klodnicki checked over to Thornton, who bet and Klodnicki thought for a bit before electing to fold.

The following hand, Thornton raised from the hijack and Benny Glaser called in the cutoff, while Mark Klecan called in the small blind.

Everyone drew two on the first draw and Klecan checked over to Thornton who bet and got two callers.

Klecan drew two while Thornton drew one and Glaser drew two behind him. Klecan checked to Thornton who bet and only Klecan called.

On the final draw, Klecan drew one while Thornton stood pat and both players checked.

Thornton turned over 8x4x3x2xAx for a perfect eight and it was good for the pot.

Benny Glaser opened from under the gun and received calls from Michael Balan in the small blind and Schuyler Thornton in the big blind. All three players drew two.

Action checked around to Glaser who bet after the first draw and both opponents called. Balan drew one, Thornton drew two and Glaser drew one.

Glaser bet again when checked to after the second draw. Balan raised, Thornton called and Glaser folded.

For the final draw the two remaining players stood pat before Balan check-called a bet from Thornton, who showed a seven with 7x6x4x3x2x. Balan mucked and Thornton took down a healthy pot.

Thornton Pips Baker

Schuyler Thornton raised in the cutoff and David "Bakes" Baker called in the small blind.

Both players drew two and Baker bet to see Thornton call.

On the second draw, each of them drew one and Thornton called Baker's second bet.

They both stood pat on the end and Baker bet which saw Thornton call.

Baker turned over 8x7x5x3x2x, but he found that Thornton had him pipped with 8x7x4x3x2x and he raked in one of the first pots of the final table.

James Woods opened from the button and George Alexander defended from the big blind. Both players drew two, checked and drew another two.

After the second draw Alexander check-called a bet from Woods and drew one while Woods stood pat. Both players then checked after the final draw.

Alexander showed a nine-six with 9x6x5x3xAx.

"Oh my god. I was playing the wrong game" Woods exclaimed, showing 9x8x7x4x2x for an inferior nine as Alexander took the pot.

The next hand saw Woods open from the cutoff and receive calls from George Alexander in the small blind and Chris Klodnicki in the big blind. all three players drew two.

After the first draw Alexander bet, Klodnicki folded and Woods raised, leaving only a few chips behind. Alexander called.

For the final draw Alexander drew one and Woods stood pat. Alexander then bet and Woods called, putting himself all-in.

Woods had a seven with 7x5x4x3xAx but Alexander had 6x4x3x2xAx for number two to send Woods to the rail one spot shy of making the unofficial final table.
