New vs. Old School Today w/ Event #59: $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em - Battle of the Ages
Welcome back to PokerNews, the official media partner of the 2025 World Series of Poker and home of live updates from all bracelet events.
Today sees the start of Event #59: $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em - Battle of the Ages here at Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas. The unique $1,000 Battle of the Ages is one of summer's most intriguing new events.
The 59th event of the series sees players aged 50 and over enter on Day 1A on the morning of June 22, with Day 1B, later in the day, reserved for the under-50 crowd. Surviving players merge on Day 2 to fight it out for the bracelet, top prize, and bragging rights for their generation.
Players, no matter their age, will begin Day 1 with 20,000 chips and will see levels lasting 30 minutes.
The fields will combine on Day 2 at 2 p.m. local time on Monday, June 23 and will play to a winner. There will be 15-minute breaks every four levels and a 60-minute dinner break after 12 levels of play.
