Event #59: $1,000 Battle of the Ages
Day 2 Completed
When Day 2 of Event #59: $1,000 Battle of the Ages got started at 2 p.m. at the Horseshoe and Paris, Las Vegas, 461 players sat down with dollar signs in their eyes. To be more specific, $335,390 in dollar signs, the top score from the $2,705,120 prize pool. More than 12 hours later, only eight hopefuls remain and are bagging up chips. They will return at 4 p.m. Tuesday for the streamed final table of this first-ever event at the 2025 World Series of Poker.
Play began with two separate starting flights: Day 1a was the entry point for the greatest generation, while Day 1b was open to anyone who had not yet reached the 50-year mark. Today the survivors of the two flights were mixed together, and going into Day 3, it is the youngsters who out-number the elders, seven-to-one.
it’s impossible to count out the lone remaining elder at this final table, as despite being the only over-50 left, WSOP bracelet winner Joseph Roh sits atop the leaderboard by quite some way, with a huge stack of 17,375,000.
Srivinay Irrinki finds himself second in the standings going into the final day, as he racked up an incredibly impressive 14,850,000 chips, spurred on by rivering a full house in the final hand of the night. Jack Maskill is another youngster who will believe that he can take the whole thing down, as he comes back to 7,350,000 chips, and will undoubtedly be applying pressure on that final table.
| Seat | Player | Country | Chip Count | Big Blinds |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Xia Wang | Macao | 2,400,000 | 5 |
| 2 | Joseph Roh | United States | 17,375,000 | 35 |
| 3 | Hakeem Mashal | United States | 7,025,000 | 14 |
| 4 | Jack Maskill | United Kingdom | 7,350,000 | 15 |
| 5 | Sebastiaan de Jonge | Netherlands | 2,650,000 | 5 |
| 6 | Allan Le | United States | 3,450,000 | 7 |
| 7 | Ignacio Sagra | Argentina | 6,000,000 | 12 |
| 8 | Srivinay Irrinki | United States | 14,850,000 | 30 |
Another player at this final table to keep an eye on is Allan Le, who holds two WSOP bracelets. His first came back in 2016 in the $1,500 Mixed Omaha Hi-Lo tournament, and he just added a second earlier in this series in Event #43: $1,500 Razz. A win in this event would be his first no-limit hold'em bracelet.
The final eight have outlasted some serious players, with Joao Simao, Ryan Riess, Jamie Dale and Kane Kalas unable to make it through the day, as well as Shawn Buchanan departing shortly before the day’s end.
This unique format is sure to bring more action on the final day, as players adapt their strategies for a second day running, with an average stack of just 15 big blinds. Not only are the ages mixed, but they’re battling it out for some huge scores, with contenders such as Hakeem Mashal, and Xia Wang already having locked up a career-high cash. Despite this, they’ll be hungry for more, as a six-figure payout looms in the not-so-distant future.
Players will return to the Horseshoe Events Center for the final table, where the Battle of the Ages winner will be crowned. Day 3 will begin at 4 p.m. and will be streamed by PokerGO on a one-hour delay, starting at 5 p.m. PDT picking up on Level 35, with 3:48 remaining at 250,000/500,000 blinds with a 500,000 big blind ante.
Stay tuned as PokerNews brings you all of the action throughout the final table, from cards in the air to the bracelet being awarded.

On a flop of K♦8♣6♦ Irrinki put out a continuation-bet of 700,000 when checked to. Roh, yet again, check-raised to 2,300,000, only to be met by a shove from Irrinki for 9,525,000 total. Roh tanked for a while, before eventually making the fold.
Kelley Slay: K♥Q♥
Srivinay Irrinki: K♠6♠
Irrinki had flopped two pair, and boated up on the 4♦6♣ runout to send Slay home.

Kelley Slay only had a stack of 525,000 before limping in for 500,000. Srivinay Irrinki, in the small blind, completed, and Xia Wang checked in the big blind.
The players checked down on the 2♠9♥5♥A♥6♦ board, and Irrinki tabled J♦6♥ for a rivered pair of sixes. The other two players mucked, awarding Irrinki the pot, but crucially leaving Slay with just 25,000, or five per cent of a big blind.

Ignacio Sagra looked down at his cards from late position, before open shoving for 3,000,000 on the dot. He received one customer, in big stack Joseph Roh.
Ignacio Sagra: 10♦10♣
Joseph Roh: 9♦9♠
Players around the table noted that they had folded the two remaining tens, however Roh was unable to find the nine he needed on the 2♠5♣7♠J♣A♠ runout. Sagra more than doubled, as "Vamos!" cheers were heard from the rail.

Action folded to Gary Friedlander in the cutoff, and he raised to 1,000,000. The action then folded to Joseph Roh in the small blind, who put in a three-bet to 2,600,000. Friedlander called, and the players went to a flop.
The dealer revealed a flop of A♥4♠7♣, which prompted Roh to continue betting, this time for 1,500,000. Friedlander responded by moving all in, which Roh swiftly called.
Gary Friedlander: A♦J♠
Joseph Roh: A♣K♦
Friedlander was at risk and in need of help.
The turn A♠ gave him some opportunities to split the pot, but the river 9♥ sealed his fate.
As he received applause from the growing rail, he headed towards the exit.
