Friedlander Turns the Ace

Following a hijack open to 480,000 from Allan Le, as had been the trend from the table's big stack for the last orbit, Gary Friedlander shoved from the big blind, for 2,510,000. After a lengthy tank, and a count, Le made the call.

Action was joined with a large majority of Jeremy Becker's 815,000 stack already in the middle, with a little left behind in consideration of the pay jumps. Xia Wang was the only other player in the pot.

The flop came K♦J♣Q♣, and Becker moved his remaining chips into the middle, only to be met with a snap call.

Wang had flopped Broadway and was a long way ahead. Becker called for the ten of diamonds, but the turn came down the 9♥ instead.

A double knockout just saw both Simon Kaiser and Ruoxiao Shi hit the rail.

First, Shi shoved from the small blind for 1,850,000 and Allan Le called in the big blind with 1,840,000.

Shi was dominated and despite flopping a gutshot on 6♠K♠7♣, he couldn't catch up as the runout of 7♠3♦ kept the ace-high of Le in the lead.

In the very next hand, Shi called for his last 10,000 on the button, Le shoved the small blind, and Kaiser called off his stack of around 2,500,000 from the big blind.

Kaiser was poised to score a big double-up, but the 8♣10♠6♥ flop had other ideas as Le took the lead. An 8♦ on the turn put Shi and Kaiser one step closer to elimination, and the 4♣ river confirmed it.

Willier was ahead pre-flop but the board ran 10♥9♦7♣J♥2♦ giving Slay a pair on the turn for a double up leaving Willier with only 170,000 behind coming into the small blind.

The very next hand, Wilier shoved all-in with his remaining chips after Ruoxiao Shi opened for 400,000. Big blind Wei Chen called the raise creating a side pot of 460,000.

All players saw the flop drop 4♣6♦8♥. After a check, Shi continued with a 300,000 bet which was enough to take the side pot down and taking Willier to showdown.

Shi had top pair against Willier's middle pair. The turn 3♣ didn't change anything but the river 8♣ improved Shi's hand to trips sending Willier to the payout counter.
