It was an exciting Day 1 in Event #64: $1,000 Super Seniors No-Limit Hold'em here at the 2025 World Series of Poker, hosted by the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas. The tremendous 3,338 person field generated a total prize pool of $2,937,440 and saw the field narrowed down to only 860 hopefuls remaining to battle for the $356,494 top prize.

Kenna James (212,500) bagged a healthy stack and looks to capitalize on his momentum. The good-natured pro has made WSOP final tables in no-limit hold'em, Razz, and The Shootout but the gold bracelet has eluded James. Menahem Asher (280,000) leads the way after the opening day, with a slim lead over Ronald Hunt (278,000).

Popular poker author Dara O'Kearney (72,000) found a bag to advance with, as did notable WSOP staple and bracelet winner, Ted Forrest (85,500).

Several notables were unable to make it through the day, including previous Main Event Champions, Johnny Chan and Scotty Nguyen. Old school pros Eli Elezra and JJ Liu were also in contention for a part of the day but unable to put chips in a bag.

Of those that return, only 501 won't leave empty-handed. Those that advanced will be returning Wednesday at 11 a.m. local time and are slated to play another 10 levels before moving on to Day 3.
